Clearly you had other things on your mind at the time man! Perhaps how you might spend that extra time doing uninterrupted mods on the taco! She's 175 miles away now...I'm sure you miss her.
I will try some ethanol free at next fill-up and report back. I know modern engines are designed to handle ethanol (seals/gaskets) but I still think that stuff can be toxic. Especially in humid climates.

If y'all remember my earlier post about that guy named Murphy, he stopped by again. My reg key all the sudden doesn't work, not recognized, can't changes tunes. I've got the purple dongle, nothings changed, dedicated laptop just for tuning. Tried reinstalling the key, no luck, spent a couple hours trying everything. Sent an email to zendesk. Just swapped out tunes a couple months ago. Strange

Quick update, already heard from Mat, awesome customer service. Don't know what people are always going on about.

Update, was able to load new tunes, my pcmflash software was a Rev behind. Happy man

I put the 1.05 on 93 performance tune on my 16 last night. Was a crash course in tuning software since I also had 04B01 and found out the hard way I couldn't straight flash it with the ovtune. I called my dealer about having them do the TSB update for the transmission and I couldn't even get a call back from a service writer. Searched around here and found the techstream software and flashed to 04B04 before being able to do the ovtune. I'm only 50 miles into the learning process but I'm liking it so far. I wasn't sure if I should have it relearn AV or not so I left it alone.

Be VERY careful flashing TSBs to ECUs. When I did my own, it work flawlessly. When I did another in our local group...bricked.

There's a solid set of instructions in the 1st Post of the MT Update thread. I would recommend following that.

If you have our flash kit and the ecu bricks during techstream reflash, just recover it with our software and try again, easy.

I really wish our software could flash the TSBs but both the ECU and TCU have to be flashed at the same time which we can't do.

Does this mean that theoretically your software could flash MT TSBs?

Yes, I tried 91 clear (non-ethanol) last weekend and it drove like a dream. Plus my mileage went up almost 3-4 mpgs

That's what real fuel does. Corn is for eating. Ethanol is for drinking. Fuck this shit burning away in our motors.

While you are absolutely correct (my truck sings on E0 as well) one thing to consider is fuel quality and additives. At least in my area, while E0 is readily available, it is only available (with very few exceptions) in 87 octane, and from questionable gas stations (not top tier). While it gets rid of the corn liquor, it also may keep you from getting the additives your engine needs to keep it clean of carbon build-up and whatnot. When I was in my E0 mode, I got a couple of questionable tanks of gas, and ever since I'm on 93 Shell VPower (which costs about the same as 87 E0 where I am).

Ethanol isn't going to hurt anything unless you let the truck sit for a long time with old gas - the ethanol will absolutely attract water / condensation and cause you issues in that case. Most of us are filling up the truck with fresh gas regularly and driving it. It'll run a bit better perhaps and you'll get better MPGs on E0 but I'm sticking with the detergents and higher octane.

I agree with you there. It is funny how Costco fuel had the same dark cloud over it for a few years.

In that vein, I will say that a couple decades ago, I was using Exxon exclusively and had to toss in injector cleaner every 6mo to keep hesitation at bay and smooth out the motor (no matter the fuel from the time that I started driving). After changing to Chevron when word got out on their Techron package meant never buying injector cleaner again. I don't know if it was the Top Tier effort or if everyone reverse engineered Techron, but TT is good stuff as far as additives go.

It just wish that we would stop growing food for fuel. It makes zero sense and I have a feeling that the total cycle is worse for the environment than pure gas. This coming from someone who falls to the left and tries pretty hard to green.

Guy had had nothing but issues with his truck, so he used it as an excuse to get rid of it.

I don't see how it can be a "greener" alternative either, especially if you get better mileage on corn free.

No need to clear values unless you have issues. Welcome to tuned life, and a truck that drives much better!

Exactly on our direct side. I am also wondering about the cost and impact of producing the corn, distilling it, transport, etc. The costs and impact of using it for food are completely different.

There is the fact that I find it astounding that we can locate, extract, ship, refine, blend, and transport fuel for $2.00 to $3.00 per gallon and still create insane profits for energy corps. Not to mention that folks pay $4/liter of bottled freaking water.

The other odd nugget that I read was that an oil tanker pays for itself in something like eight or ten round trips. Just amazing.
