Curious: Why do people still black out license plates when posting pics of their vehicles?

I am one very disappointed 2019 Tacoma Off Road owner. I bought this truck after a very strong recommendation from my brother who has put 300,000 miles on three Tacomas. I have 2300 miles on the truck, the automatic transmission shutters at about 40 mpg especially going up a slight grade. I just got back from the dealer, and the service manager told me has a 2018 that does the exact same thing along with numerous other 2018 and 2019 owners. He told me Toyota was aware of the problem, but has not come up with a fix at this point in time and has know idea when they might come up with a fix. I love the truck except for this very irritating shutter. I guess I will wait a while and hope Toyota comes out with a solution before I trade it away. Is this issue wide spread over many Tacoma owners? If so I guess that is why they have rebate offer of $1750. Sales must be slow. I sure wont recommend a new Tacoma to anyone.

 

Post a pic of the truck and dont forget to block out your license plate! Bad shit happens around here if you dont. Trust me.

 

I need to take a pic of my Taco with our PPG rigs in the bed. Two 52-inch fans, strapped in like they could lift the truck.

It looks like we're stoned and about to try a hare-brained stunt that everyone who was ever been 11yo dreamed of, but grownups know can never actually work. People follow us, wondering when the show starts.

True story, some mod from honda-tech in the early 00's posted my old cell phone number after a few of us blew apart a thread and i started getting calls on the old phone really funny threats like "fuck with honda tech and well show you whats up"

Not being one to let shit go, i started digging around (condensed version as i found he flew planes and got intouch with someone he served in the national guard or whatever the fuck it is in canada, then hop scotched that to a few other sites) the mods posts and found he autox'd and there were some pics of a shop the car was at. I called the shop and mentioned that I auto x'd with the dude (cannot remember his name) but lost all his contact and that he had mentioned the shop did work on his car.

The guy that answered the phone was like oh yeah hold on i'll get his dad. Talked to his dad told him the auto x bit and and his dad was like you yeah he works over at XX game company. I asked if it was the vancouver location (as I was googling offices as we chatted) he confirmed and I now had his full name, place of work and dads employer.

I called the offices and asked for him, he was in a meeting got his voicemail. I left a message that went like "Hey dude, its Corey from Honda-tech, the guy whop you used your moderator privledges to post his info online, well i just spoke with your dad and here i am. I suggest you return my call before shit gets real fun. My wife was scared of people coming over or their threats and i'm holding you personally accountable. I said if i get another call or anyone shows up at my house I swear to god I will fly to Vancouver and wait for you to leave your office and break your fucking legs. So call me back at this number so we can talk.

We went to lunch and i missed his phone call but he left a message that started with "Hello Mr. Longstreth this is...."

At that moment, we both knew that he knew he was fucked.

When I called him back he was terrified that he was able to out someone and himself get so easily found. I reminded him I now had both his and his pops info and that shit would go silly if I heard from anyone. He must have apologized 30 times.

 

You're right, it'll probably be royal purple, although I've strongly considered pink not even joking was just telling my girl about it last week...
