Found a 2013 FJ trail teams locally for $33k with 85,000kms on it. Would be out about $3k to make the deal.
    Thoughts?

In my very brief search, there is one 1 white dclb limited for sale in the US. Im a little biased towards white dclb's but absolutely no way would I make that trade. Not an Fj fan personally.

Not many I know spend money to keep the same year model and move up in mileage.

What was the price delta on these vehicles when new?

They are great trucks. We used to have one but the tranny went out at only 60k miles. At the time I read it was a design flaw and at a price tag of 6k for a new one (it was under a 100k Geico warranty) I new the next time it went out Iwoylf have to foot the bill. So I traded it in on a FRS. Now I cant seem to find any mention of the tranny issue and I never met any FJ Cruiser owner that ever had a tranny problem. We wish we never traded it in. We only paid 30k new for ours.

We had a 2011 Fj and loved it until last year when we had a kid. We traded it in on our new 4runner.

Those FJ's keep their value. I was actively looking for one to replace my TJ but don't want to spend more $$ out of pocket. I wouldn't trade my Tacoma for one since I need my bed space to haul kayaks/bikes/home depot runs... Major negative with FJ's are the driving blind spots and claustrophobic feeling in the rear passenger area due to the design. Good luck with your decision OP.

If one suits your needs more than the other. Then l would say go with the one that actually suits your needs.
Your the one who is paying the bills for it, and the one who will be using it everyday.
Only you can make that choice.

Nah man not worth it. You have as much interior space as the FJ right now, plus a bed when you need it. Makes no sense

Thanks for all of the replies.
I have 1 kid (1.5 yo), and one on the way.
Also just got a new German shepherd pup, it’s easier to transport then in our 4runner then the truck but maybe I could get a topper for the truck instead.

I think they should give you the $3K.
    That's a beautiful truck!

I take it back. No way would I trade that if you already have a 4runner to tote kids around. Fj's are cool, but they arent nearly as practical or awesome as the tacoma.

FJ Cruisers have some of the best (if not the best) resale value of any vehicle on the market. People didn't care for them when they were being sold by Toyota, but once they were discontinued it was like a big cult following formed around them and now they go for as much used with ~100k miles as they did when they were practically new.

I like them but...not that much lol.

I debated the Cruiser when I bought my truck new. For my uses the truck fits my needs better. But from a money perspective I'd too be tempted. You can always get another truck, they don't make SUV any longer. One of the biggest mistakes I made was not buying one of the original FJ40's back in the day when a new one was about $3K.
