    Hello learned ones.

    New here

    2017 Tac SR5

New to me with -12,000 miles

There are stains in the headliner. Read that the leak originates from the outer bed light?

Any pictorial step by steps to fix this?

And...... I have about 7 months of factory warranty remaining. Would it be covered.

    Thank you in advance.

    Stephen

Yeah it would be covered under the 3yr.-36k warranty but requires dropping the headliner to access the bolts which the dealer will break a half dozen of your clips that hold interior pieces together and not tell you about it but you’ll hear the rattles as you go down the road. Or you could just drill the fucker out and install a Meso third brake light and be done with it in like 20 minutes. Your call brother.

    Hi Ronzio,

Thank you for the tip and great photos.

Please excuse me I am new here/tac.

The stock light is a reverse/courtesy light correct?

How would one supply the brake wiring to make it an reverse/courtesy/brake light.

What is the original cause of the leak, a failed rubber seal around the light housing?

    Thanks

Here a photo of the wire harness behind the 3rd brake. There is a thread on this in the sticky section it’s a good read. Dealer told me it was improper torque on the brake light bolts that caused the leak but who knows they did replace mine under warranty but I rip it out an went with a Meso one never been happier.

Here’s a video of what I made my do.

The stock light is either strictly a third brake light, or a third brake light AND bed light. Depends upon the configuration of your truck.
