What are those weird blankets people have hanging on their tailgates? I saw a lot of them when I was in Flagstaff, AZ. It looked like they had handles on them as well. Just curious

You mean bike pads? Theyre for hanging bikes off of the tailgate.

Most likely for putting bikes in the back of the truck, you have the frame of the bike over the tailgate and the tire goes on the outside. Its to protect the truck from scratches the fork/tire of the bike may cause.

Bikers are a lot like vegans in some regards. If you don't know that they're a biker, don't worry, they'll tell you.

I was really into mountain biking about 5 years ago but most of the people I met were truly unbearable. I don't ride much anymore but when I do it is alone.

I used to love the group rides way back when I used to race the NORBA series. During those days I tried to cross-train with the road cycling club. I couldnt stand those pretentious twits. The mountain bikers usually would stop, rest, and bullshit every few miles to let the stragglers catch up.

The roadies, once they dropped you, you stayed dropped. Some would even get in their cars and leave before the last ones arrived back at the meet point.

OK, now that the OP has got his answer about what those tailgate blankets were for, now what about the those tailgate pillows I’ve been seeing strapped on tailgates or spares on both jeeps and Tacos? JK..
