Extended Rear Shocks

I just ordered up a pair of the fox 2.0 RR shocks and a 1 inch block for the rear. Upon inspection it says the foxes are for a 2-3 inch lift. Question is, will I have a problem running a 1 inch lift on a shock that is made for a 2-3 inch lift? My apologies if this has been talked about before, couldn’t find any other information. Just want to make sure no damage is being done. Cheers

 

I would assume you might just have a bouncier ride since the shocks will be longer than what they’re needed for and may wear them out faster. Good news is blocks run pretty cheap. I’m sure you could get a 2” lift block for around $80.

 

Was hoping to stay at 1inch in the back, only have 2inch lift in the front and like it to sit level. Also not too comfortable with throwing on more than a 1 inch block for axle wrap purposes

As long as under full compression you are not bottoming out the shock and full extension you are not pulling out brake lines I would think you would be fine.

 

Not sure why ride would be bouncier? I am not aware of rebound progressive shocks. I would not think the shock being a little more in its compression state would create a different ride quality.

 

The shocks may too long and bottom out before you hit your bump stops. So you may need to space your bump stops a little so they stop the shock from bottoming out on harder hits.
