I had them made by a local machine shop. Cost me $80.

Still no issues. I pull the tent off after each use and I’ve used it 2-3 times since that post. I don’t do many hard frame flexing trails or rock crawling though.

Thank you for the information on the Front Runner bed bars, I was looking for the same setup. I spoke to them today and they told me that they have a bracket that can help with the weight distribution of the truck. Like to know what you think of it or should I go to a machine shop and have them build me one?

They don't have a flange that sits on top of the cap like mine do, and as I run three bars the cost of those would be a lot more than what I paid because I didn't mention that I also got brackets for securing the RTT to the rails included in the $80 price. I'm in Kenya right now but I'll be back next week so I can post a drawing of the brackets that you could take to a machine shop to have made.

Heres the fab drawing. They bolt to the bed rails.

this is an old post... but I have a front runner roof rack on my cab and camper shell. I load it with kayks, a gun case full of recovery gear, another box with a jack and other assorted steel and walk on it no problem. I do not have the bed rack, though. But I guarantee the bed rail is the limiting piece of the equation and not the front runner rack.

Good info to know, I've been struggling with a plan for carrying all the gear I need on longer trips.

Thought about going this route as well... but the thought of drilling 8 holes in my bed is hard to get past.

Any of you that run these Front Runner bed bars with a tent do you experience any movement? I’ve got an iKamper Mini on mine and when I’m driving I can see my tent moving side to side slightly. When I’m on some trails it’s a little worse. Before these I had an RCI rack and the movement wasn’t as bad... just want to make sure it’s not going to destroy my bed. I’ve got an email saved where I asked Front Runner if these bars with an iKamper Mini would work on my truck and they assured me they would be just fine.

I just ordered some bed stiffeners to be sure.

As you can see in my pictures I run three bards with my RTT. It is very solid, I haven’t ran this setup on any hard off-road trails but lots of old logging “roads”. After three seasons I haven’t seen any signs of bed flex or cracking and I don’t have bed stiffeners.

My old setup with iKamper mini and the FR load bars never failed me but swapped them out for a rack. The iKamper looked like a bobble head on there and I couldn’t get over it.
