I installed 2.5 king resi's on the front of my 15 tacoma. No aftermarket bumper so vendor recommended keeping the 600 spring. I cranked the coils 3 turns to achieve a lift because they came setup for leveling a stock truck.

When I hit speed bumps or dips in the road the shock goes to extend, then its almost like there is no top out bumper or rebound and it slams into the end of its travel in a very violent feeling motion.

This even happens when I am crawling over <5 mph the aggressive speed bumps in my complex.

Anyone else with experiences like this?

Have you reached out to the seller?

Do you have aftermarket bump stops? What UCAs do you have?

I have not reached out to the seller, I wasnt really thinking the shocks were bad.

Have SPC UCAs and alignment has been checked a couple times this year.

No aftermarket bumps, I guess I should gopro the problem it feels so much like extension but I guess it is possible I am hitting the bumps hard on compression.

Your shocks won’t unload like that while crawling <5mph so you might be slightly exaggerating.

600 pound springs are pretty soft, to me it sounds like your are driving way too fast, the only way you get rapid extension is when a tire goes airborne very fast.

are you talking about when you are coming out of the bump as in; the suspension extending back out there is a sound? or while it is being compressed?

my down travel was pretty bad until I lowered the front down a bit to 2.25" lift. it's now smooth and no more thud going over speed bumps or potholes.

I can tell you they are unloading like that. If I am going faster then 5mph it is certainly no more then 10mph but seriously 5mph is more realistic, like having to hit the gas to go completely go over the speed bump slow.

Hmmm interesting. I did wait for the suspension to settle when new before cranking the 3 turns, and I couldn't recall if I had this issue but sounds like maybe I acquired this issue when raising to the approximately 3 inch range..

They have 10k miles on them with most of that being highway. No leaks, I would be surprised it they were somehow shot.

measure your coilovers from the the top hat to the center of the bottom bolt holding it in place; should be 21"-21.5" to be safe and not have to deal with your violent down travel.

Coming out of the bump, when the shock hits full extension. almost feels like the front tires bound of the ground sometimes and I am talking at real low speeds.

I have the same issue with my ADS. I think they are cranked up too high so the down travel is a bit short. Also the preload adds more force to the rebound. But it happens over any sharped edged bump or any time the suspension unloads quickly (regardless of my speed). It’s kind of annoying but I also don’t want to lower them.

I’m curious to what you are actually lifted to. Can you post some pics of your suspension. Maybe you are driving around maxed out.
