And where might this so called wrecking yard be? I have yet to find one near me that will let me just go out in their yard and browse their Tacomas.

Fosters in Portland. They won't let you out in the yard, but if you search car-part.com for whatchamacallits for Tacos, you get a bunch of results at Fosters and their Damascus yard.

Well, I failed at the Portland wrecking yards. Guess I'll probably have to buy the damper and damper bracket new from Toyota.

Yes, I just got his parts in today, and I put it all on my truck. It works great, and wasn't too hard to do either. The only issue I had was when I was taking out the lower stud in the damper bracket, it was an absolute pain, but I also don't have a bench vise, which would have made much easier to remove.
When I got his kit, and opened it up, I inventoried everything, but I was wondering what this allen headed bolt and lock nut were for, since he didn't mention it in his video, but when I was test fitting everything on my truck, then I figured out the nut and bolt is to replace the lower stud, since it was just not long enough for good thread engagement with the nut.
So thank you @christian06, the kit works great! And now I don't have to worry about my gate slamming down since is heavier than stock, with a reinforcement panel in place.

Thanks for the write up. Nothing mentioned in the video about removing that stud. Do you just pound it out with a hammer and a piece of pipe? Which reinforcement do you have? Steel or aluminum?

Thanks, I was going to take some pictures along the way, but it really wasn't any different than the video he posted. I ended up cutting the stud off, and using a 7/16ths drill bit to drill out the center of the stud, and it eventually broke into a couple of pieces. I have a Mobtown reinforcement panel, and it is 14 gauge steel, so it definitely adds some weight to the tailgate.

I just got done too about 30 minutes ago. I used hammer and bigger socket to take the lower stud. I was thinking also what is the extra allen bolt and nut. It’s all done.

I do not have them made yet, it's on it's way, it will work like the 3rd gen Anti theft devise but bolt to the 2nd gen tailgate bolt.

Any Mods? One. Maybe two, tops...
I am DEFINITELY interested, but only if you offer a damper option WITH the anti-theft device. Please let me know as soon as you have one available.

    Thanks

    Rick.

As of this writing, I only have a complete tailgate assist kit or a partial kit. I haven't got the hybrid Anti theft devise yet but it's just around the corner, thx
