As soon as I jumped I regretted it in a way.
I knew I had a LT kit being fabricated and I got a wild hair up my ass and “sent it”. I should’ve waited but you know how it goes.

I can’t even say with certainty that the jump has anything to do with my problem. It didn’t start acting up until a while after the jump so who knows. :notsure:

Not really the case here. I knew my trucks capabilities well and I did it anyway. But I also don’t have 50k to make my truck “Baja ready” so I have fun with what I got.

I do however have a full LT kit and a bedcage on stand by now to make my landings a little more enjoyable and increase my trucks survivability for next time.

Might be going to new shop tomorrow. I’d really like to just to a complete trans swap but I’d hate to spend the money on a new trans. Install and have the same thing happen. Looking for someone sensible to hopefully positivity identity the problem before i pull the trigger on a new trans

This thread is 10 pages deep . Its difficult to begin diagnostics with so much being done to your truck .
Considering how much time went into this issue so far . I just gonna hold off on making recomedations until we have a level playing field

Hoping to take it to this shop and get some some “solid” feedback as to what’s going on so I can start getting this thing wrapped up. But it’s been so back and forth that I just need a sensible party to look at it

Just talked to the trans guy at my dads friends brothers shop. He’s gunna take the truck in next week and run a full diagnostic free of charge to give me his opinion.

He says it sounds like a likely possibility would be a crack in the valve body causing a loss in pressure. But he obviously can’t be certain of anything without running some tests and taking it for a spin.

I’m going to keep saving up some money for a re man trans in the mean time. We’ll see what this guy says and go from there.

He also suggested just going with a reman so that seems like the general consensus or the next indicated step at this point in time.

Atleast if I get a whole new trans and install it to discover it’s still doing the same thing I’ll have a 3 yr warranty to work with. I’m done spending money chasing little gremlins here and there.

Did the old shop take good hard look at your tq converter? If the 1 way got damaged, it can do funky stuff too... not my top pick, but a possibilty.

my dad was going to drive my truck to his work and go see the new trans guy during his shift to do a road test and see what the new guy thought yesterday cause the shop is near his work. he called me and for whatever reason he couldn't get the transmission to malfunction.
he decided to drive the truck running around San Diego doing estimates for work. he burned 3/4 of a tank of gas and still the trans wouldnt slip or nothing. the transition between 1st and 2nd is a little soft and it doesn't grab like it should but otherwise its not doing anything it was prior. we only put a few miles on it after the valve body was rebuilt getting it from the shop back to my dads place for storage. its almost like there was some metal shaving in the fluid causing a sticky valve and once my dad ran it that day to work is cleared and allowed proper pressure distribution or something. very strange. my dad wanted to drive it to work again today to see how it ran again. ( still haven't heard an update yet) but if it runs like it did yesterday im just going to put miles on it and see what happens. then when it decides to go itll be a complete replacement.

Hey Luke, Have you tried checking your transmission temps? I used to set up EngineLink on my iPhone and bought a cheap OBD2 WiFi unit off of Amazon. Watching the trans temps helped me to troubleshoot. One difference with my truck, I did get an error code for TC lockup when my issues first started.

Like you, I rebuilt the valve body and replaced the torque converter on my 2000 a few years ago. It has been running good since. Good Luck!

After everything I’ve been through the last six months I plan on running a temp gauge for the trans. I haven’t personally monitored it but the shop I had it out said the temperatures were within normal range

I know that’s what I’m hoping. It ran fine all day today so I decided to continue with the build After a six-month hiatus dealing with this transmission

I use a SC2 to monitor my ATF, coolant, intake temps etc. I have it continuously plugged in to give me instant real time data.

That’s badass. I was considering just get a 52mm temp gauge but that might be a way to go. Was it a PITA to set up?
