hey guys, just throwing ideas around and seeing if anybody had any insight on what it would take to turn a TRD Sport into a prerunner desert racer style truck. Not trying to go full trophy truck but just something that I can have some fun with. After heading out into the dirt the past year I have found myself enjoying more of the faster trail/track style driving than the slower off-roading stuff, Especially since my truck is a 2wd. I know I’ll need a new suspension and a few other kits and some body fab work but just tossin ideas around in my head right now. Any ideas or tips are appreciated. And yes, this will still be my daily driver

Lol the woes of buying a 2wd. No ones gunna judge you for lifting your 2wd non locked rear. Just save yourself the money and buy a budget suspension lift and some new bump stops and call it a day. No need to go full fan boy just to justify lifting your RWD.

I don’t need justification to do anything. And I bought the 2wd intentionally because I don’t do any serious off-roading. If you’re gonna be the 4x4 prick go somewhere else. No need to go full douche and try and talk shit about 2wd.

I have no idea about specifics but look into long travel kits. They're not cheap but that's the way to go. Total chaos or camburg are the main two that come to mind. Hopefully someone will chime in with more info than me. Good luck dude!

It only took me 1 move to turn this into a Friday thread ... :pccoffee: I expected better.

Nothing wrong with 2wd ... would not suggest "turning your truck into a pre-runner" but "not a trophy truck" if it's your daily driver. Have fun running LT with uniball uppers and lowers as a daily driver. Get ready for squeak city

Converting to that type of truck is crazy EXPENSIVE. Both mod wise and maintenance wise

Assuming this is your daily driver as well. If I was in your shoes I’d start with simply upgrading the suspension. I wouldn’t go LT at this point, but that’s just me. You should look for a suspension that is adjustable for example Icons with cdcv adjustable valves. I’m sure Fox has something similar if you’d prefer them. Then there are some natural weak points in the suspension you’ll need to address plus better bump stops, etc.

If you want anything more than just coilovers and rear shocks To cruise around the desert be ready to dump like 10k+ into your truck. That’s just suspension. You want to hit big ass whoops fast or just have a smoother ride on mild trails?
