First post on TW and I thought I’d introduce myself on a thread that I’ve been lurking thru for a couple of weeks now since my new purchase. Spent the last 5 years owning a dodge 3500 dually in California, and I just recently moved back home to Hawai'i so I thought I’d move back into a truck that’s a little more suited for island life. Acquired a 2009 Tacoma 4x4 single cab at the beginning of August, new wheels and tires coming in the next few weeks.31416DB5-488F-4149-A408-477F3624346A.jpg

Ya man definitely a pretty penny but I was able to find a sweet deal I picked mine up for 1300. It’s a little rough around the edges but I’ve been in the process of cleaning it up.

I just ordered a set of PAC springs for my King 2.5's from AccuTune. If anybody was interested in what a good spring rate and free length is for the regular cab I did the calculations and had them confirmed by the guys at AccuTune. for me with my Bumper and skid plate, a 14" 450lb spring was ideal for a good ride quality and about 1-2" of preload to get around the ride height ideal for me, at 90 bucks a spring, i feel this was well worth it for the improved ride over the 600lb springs that come factory on kings

Originally from Oahu, but residing on Kauai!

Hahaha, if I had the need for a second dodge I’d trade you in a heartbeat! Left California with 110k miles on my 02 3500, and now that I got a Tacoma, I’ll probably just cover it up and store it in the garage seeing as how I really don’t have a need for it in the near future.

Sadly my roof is pretty much done for, and the hood is about 40% done too. Is the only way to fix that getting the whole truck repainted and clear coated over again?

Yeah, need a paint job. I’d be sure to choose an appropriate paint, the cheapest at Maaco is enamel and a waste

Those of us with bucket seats, has anyone ever tried upgrading to leather? Katzkins does not list the regular cab as an option. Are our buckets sport seats?

This might not be what you're looking for, but it's just my effort to try and help:
    https://www.clazzio.com/car-leather-kits.php

It's for the access cab, but the seats are the same.

And here's what they a different manufacturer labels as Regular Cab specific seat covers, albeit in cloth rather than leather (sorry):

The bucket seats are basically the same across RC, AC, & DC (2005-2015) the only main difference is that the trucks with the sport package have an extra thigh extension that others don’t have. Also depending on the year some trucks have the side impact airbag built into the seat.

With the 14" 450lbs pac racing springs I needed about 2" of preload to get my desired ride height, and it feels so smooth as it is. Defenitly worth 180 bucks, also so much easier to adjust now, can do it on the truck which is a win on its own. I'd recommend going with a 500lbs springs if you have armor though

More of a trim level thing vs body type.....Base/SR5 compared to TRD OR/Sport. I went with Wet Okole. Love them. Transforms the comfort level of the seats. Have held up thru 2 trucks over last 10 yrs and look fresh as new with an occasional cleaning. Lots of color combos/ patterns / logos to choose from...

I found a good deal on some bucket seats out of a 2015. They dont come with brackets/sliders or seatbelts. Who's done a bucket seat swap?
