I've done the Smith system multiple times. Again I was no where near the coned of construction zone (left lane) it was the truck driver who barrelled thru it like it wasn't there. He did two things illegal, be in the left lane over and obviously now thru a construction zone. I didn't drive over the cones after he knocked them over. As I was driving past time he was sending them over 2 lanes.

I'm not here to bash truck drivers. Have my class a with all my endorsements and make my living as a class a delivery driver so I can spot an idiot when i see one. I know cars drive like a holes near trucks a lot but this guy was totally in the wrong

So you just don't understand the reality of congested freeways where all lanes are occupied and traffic flows at high speeds. If you want to use the freeway in big cities where populations exceed what the roads were designed for you can either become a greater danger by traveling at speeds below the going rate or accept that sometimes you may have to take a hit unexpectedly.

Good on you as well for recognizing the threat, and taking the best course of action. I’m sure some people’s knee jerk would have been to swerve to avoid it, causing a much larger problem.

It is the drivers responsibility to have his or her vehicle under their control at all times. Guy up above is correct, we weren’t there. For all we know their might not have been a truck at all. Op could have been texting, we just don’t know because we were not there. It all comes down to the credibility of the accuser. Get a dash cam and your credibility won’t be in question any longer.

It's sad there are so many internet trolls in the world. OP was asking a straightforward question of what to look for. And away the chat went. Completely wrong direction

Just check the front of the truck for any loose chipped or broken plastic and look underneath to make sure nothing is leaking . GL .

Im a construction inspector here in Texas, typically if theres construction and your vehicle gets damaged, the contractor should have an insurance policy for situations like that that may occur. If there is damage i would go back to the construction site to before the start of it and they should have a sign with their information, contractor and number. Worth a shot.

Serious answer here. If you ran over a cone, look for broken things on your truck. You can also take it to a mechanic and pay him to put it on a lift and inspect for damage.

I beg to differ. If everyone was serious, this would be a very boring world. There are enough things that go on daily that take the life out of people. You can’t control what people post but you can control what you choose to read.

So, it’s always on someone else, never a trucker? Please.

I’d say that’s most of them. I’ve known several truckers. 2 were decent people. 3 were outright assholes. The assholes believe the road belongs to them, because “they have a job to do”, “are bigger than everyone else”, and just general douchebaggery. The 2 decent truckers, stated most believe the same as the assholes. While it’s great that they bring shit to folks, they don’t get special privileges because of it in my book. Personally, I wish they had their own roads.
