OOOOOOOHHHHHH, you're screwed. 3rd gen sensors won't work on a 2nd gen Taco.

3rd Gen TPMS is completely different than 2nd Gen TPMS. Unless you put 2nd Gen Sensors in it will never work.

Where's your sensors from your previous wheels? Even though their battery life is getting low, a tire shop shouldn't charge much to break the bead and swap them. If they tell you they need to rebalance the wheels, run away.

Any idea if I will have any problems having 2nd gen sensors installed on 3rd gen wheels?

I wish they'd never invented them, for me, they're a lot more trouble & expense than they are worth. But, I guess they're handy for ladies &...... Well I guess they're handy for a lot of folks.

Spending $80 every 10-12 years for new sensors isn't going to break the bank. Any tire store will install them free when mounting tires. They charged me $10/tire afterward.

The TPMS sensors aren't designed to replace an air pressure gauge. They are intended to warn you of a sudden tire deflation while driving at 75 mph in the event you run over some debris in the road. It'll give you about 30 seconds to get the truck onto the shoulder of the road and either stopped or slowed enough to be safe when the tire goes completely flat. Works a lot better than having a tire come apart on you at 75.
