Talk me out of 285s, (UPDATE I didnt listen)

    Update on rubbing:

    Took off one RockBlox front right min flap after left tire off during some off roading. Will have to do some trimming of the lower corner of the fender flares next. Have the CMC plates but as of now haven’t had enough flex to have any contact in that area. No spacers and about 4” lift all around. Total Chaos UCLs.

    Not great pics but recent, tires installed an hour ago.

    Nitto Terra Grappler G2 in 285/70/17 in SL. 46lbs per corner, same type of tire I had before with 45k miles on them.

    I'll give my driving impressions later once I get miles on them.

    So far I'm very happy!

    2 inch lift with SPC UCAs and a CMC so there shouldnt be any rubbing.

    It drives very similar to when I had 265/75/16s on my 1st gen truck. Not bad but you can feel the difference in size when steering and accelerating.


    Have to admit the truck looks great, more proportioned with a slightly larger tire.

    No regrets yet.

    No, I'm not worried about the speedometer accuracy, I drive with the flow of traffic and seldom went over 65-70 mph with my old tires.

    I'm good with it the way it is.

    I was a little concerned that Discount Tire wouldnt mount them on my 7 inch wheels but they said I was just fine with it.

    I had an alignment when I got the 887 springs and UCAs last year, truck tracks straight as an arrow right now so no need for another alignment yet.

    As for the gas mileage, I was averaging 20-21 mpgs with the old tires, I'll see how we do with the new but it wont be really accurate unless I get my speedo recalibrated.

    I only bumped up about 4lbs per corner but the width can certainly be felt. Still no need to run ECT all the time yet but I find myself dipping deeper into the pedal to accelerate. Not much but its noticeable now. Probably not in a week of driving.
