Do any of you guys deal with reflux while working out?

I normally never deal with heartburn ever so I don’t really have experience managing it.

On my higher intensity run days I get chest pain I only assume is heartburn. I’ve ruled out all else.
I eat yogurt before heading to the gym as my usual snack but actually notice burning is worse with yogurt. I’ve tried Tums but honestly am worried about using that too much because a basic pH is worse than an acid one and it wasn’t helping.
Wondering if any if you have food combos that help with this.

I have a hiatal hernia that will bother me every once in a while on heavy days. Basically I’ll get in a coughing spell and feel like I’m going to vomit but usually after a few dry heaves I’m good to go lol

The only adverse side effects I have from it is that I can no longer drink beer. It gives me instant reflux. If I really want to drink one I can take a Zantac before and that usually helps but I’m not a big beer guy so I don’t worry about it. I stick to cider or vodka most of the time anyway

You seem like a cider or wine guy. Maybe a mike’s hard lemonade.

I didn’t have any issues till last years ileitis crap. Probably has to do with that.

Its just exercise induced thankfully but it does suck because it gives you the sensation you can’t breathe.

I would die if I couldn’t drink my beer. But good for you its not much of a loss.

Here I am eating cold chicken, rice, green beans at work.

Center had a sour IPA, but dry hopped spurs are some of my favs.

Sort of. Federal government rather than state, but same idea.

To the contrary. Licensing is fully through the state.

    Forestry service type stuff?

The game warden here is a buddy of mine. I used to think I’d want a job like that...then realized he had to work every opening day/doe day/most holidays. I’ve never really known exactly what forestry does, honestly.

Not exactly forestry. “Natural resource management” is a better term. At my project, we manage about 35,000 acres of land and water for public use. So, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, mtb, horseback riding. I do a lot of habitat enhancement for different species. Also do a lot of educational stuff for kids.
