Most people treat their vehicle as an appliance. If it works still, theres no reason for them to do anything. State inspections exist for this reason specifically.

 

i suppose if the truck only cost me a few thousand and I liked working on it fixing it up
but i don't like working on mine other than simple stuff!

my state has NO inspections, probably why that one was still on the roads

 

Most people use their truck as a truck and dont care about keeping it clean. If it gets messed up doing truck things then oh well as long as it still works and you can do truck things

 

i had a tacoma literally start buckling trying to lift it on the rack. Guy told us to fuck off, his truck is safe, signed a waiver and left.
so many come in toast. yet no one will sell theirs to me. instead they drive off and typically run them till the break in half. literally

 

i travel in mine a lot, out of state

 

They're not 100% effective anyways. My state doesn't have them, but I've seen pictures from other states where people try to hide their busted ass car problems. Things like filling in rust holes with expanding foam and painting it all black....

 

i need to spend a winter in the Chicago area, I have only spent a winter in Milwaukee and northern WI long time ago

 

My trade school teacher told me a story how he failed a inspection because of rust holes in the fender and the tech handed him a roll of duck tApe and said here fix it to pass lol

 

we just emissions in 2 counties in indiana. other than that, no inspections. they tend to not be effective enough to warrant the cost. some counties have tried it. but people find ways to fool people into thinking their car is a-ok

 

In CA? I thought CA didn't do safety inspections or was it a county thing

 

i am coming to CA to get a safety inspection!

i kinda like it. the exhaust sounds perfect.. that price tag though.. eek
