Not sure if it's the pics, it looks like it was painted with a paint roller. It looks really textured.

My opinion, I think it would look better if the letters were a different color. But what does my opinion matter. :transformer:

It is a textured spray paint. I used textured because I liked the look and color, and I had some from a previous project. The black around the part I painted is textured plastic. Anything like this definitely up for individual taste since it’s only a cosmetic change. I agree that it would look good to paint the letters. It’s more subtle as is. I might do the letters - what color do you think would look best? The truck is blazing blue and has silver and grey accents. I have removed all the chrome badging and the chrome grill is gone.

I agree, if the letters stood out I would like it more. Other than that the cover looks great.

No need for high temperature paint. Regular paint has held up fine for 2 years. Rentop makes vinyl stickers that don't discolor in the heat either. to pop the logo and v6.

Agreed. If high temp were needed the plastic would melt first.

Do the raised letters/emblem in the blue of your body color, but smooth them up first.

    Lots, straight from the factory.
Looks good, but I think it would have looked better had you taped off the raised lettering and emblem, leaving them black and only painting the recessed area.

    I can get behind that.

There's nothing impressive to look at under it anyways, but more plastic shit, wires, and hoses. This isn't a glorious sixties Ferrari engine where there's something to see under that hood. It's not like anyone in the know is going to pop the hood on a Tacoma at a "meat" and say hey boys look what I did. At the end of the day it's a Camry engine.

Italian bullshit doesn’t do it for me. Nothing glorious about an engine covered in olive oil with a mustache.

My 2.7, however, looks amazing. So, speak for yourself.

    A proper Toyota truck engine.

The 2.7 ceased to be relevant after the single cab 2nd gen ceased production. It's a third world sewage life station engine these days

    Wow, snazzy lingo.

I like the 60-70's American V8 muscle car era engines, no engine covers then.

M/T valve covers, Edelbrock intakes, Holley double pumper carb, and headers were the mainstays. And chrome air filter covers too. Fords blocks were always painted blue, Chevy blocks were red/orange and Dodges could be any color.

High school kids drove some powerful cars during that time.

Later my Toyota 22R engine was beautiful, ran like a Swiss clock.

Now you need to cut a big hole in the hood so all the babes can see your cool paint job.
