I have these now but in 286/75/16. I love them and want another set but I only got 29k on mine before the wear bars started to show. I'm at 30k now and trying to hold off until October to get new tires. A guy at discount is running these on his Silverado and says he has 59k on his and the still look almost new. Debating on this size but in an A/T

Someone else I know mentioned a short life but so far I haven’t experienced that. I have about 15k miles on mine and still have a shit load of tread left.

Short life is to be expected with mt though. You could look at the cooper st maxx, as that is an amazing tire.

Yeah, I knew the M/Ts don't last as long with mileage as A/Ts do but was hoping to get little longer life out of them, either way, they're still a great tire and more affordable compared to other big name brands.

Like this size but how many of you have regeared and what gears did you go with. I tow occasionally up mtns. Right now 32's are okay but cant go bigger for what I do without regearing. Didn't read the whole thread but how much trimming if using stock UCA's, TRD TX beadlock style wheels, and 2" lift?? Curious.

What're the specs on those wheels? Gotta have enough backspacing to not rub uca. As far as regearing, manual or auto?

Trimming, I cut up my cab mount pretty good, hammered my pinch weld as flat as I could, massaged back the firewall with a 3lb hammer, lost the lower half of the fender liners, and had to trim the lower portion of the fenders themselves. I can clear throughout the entire range of articulation.

You won’t get an easy quick answer for running 35s, except it takes a lot of work to make them fit. You want to run 35s right, you need to do a bunch of research.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-4x4-35s-3-lift-w-o-body-lift.285871/

All that work is why a lot of people run 33s or 34s instead of 35s. You already need to trim, cmc, pinch weld flatten for 33s. 34s need more. 35s are a whole other league.

For example, I had to do 2 cmcs to get it right for 34s. I also flattened the pinch weld in and not out(bad choice), which will make it a real bitch to tub my firewall if I want to move to 35s from 34s

If I may add. I previously was running 265/70r17 nitto Trail Grapplers and made the switch to 295/70r17 nitto Ridge Grapplers. My gas mileage got better.

I assume you regeared? Going up in tire size and getting better gas mileage without regearing would be a neat trick...

16x7.5 4.5" BS IIRC Right now there's about an inch to the UCA's maybe slightly less. Anyone here still running stock UCA's. Auto Trans I figure 4.56 gears but maybe 4.88? 34's would be the biggest I would go. Maybe not even that if there's too much chopping involved?

Regearing and going up to 34s without suspension upgrades seems like a strange proposition. I doubt there are many TWers running 34s on stock ucas. You start running into uca rubbing issues with bigger tires unless you run a skinny tire.

I suppose if you’re not going to off-road at all and just sizing up to 33s or 34s for looks, you can live with minimal or no trimming. If you wheel at all or even take speed bumps or driveways at more than a crawl, you will absolutely have to trim you cab mount, hammer your pinch weld, trim your wheel well liner, trim the fender flare and trim your actual fender to run 295s. And you will have a hard time sizing up with stock ucas.

I didn’t re-gear. I think the trail grapplers were so clunky that the roll pattern gave it more resistance. With the added tire size I’m surprised that I’m about 30 miles less then having my stock tires back on.

Thanks to this thread I may go with the Cooper AT3 XLT's in this size. Gonna buy new tires next month. Compared my 285's to the 295's, the 285's new are at 32.8" and these 295's are at 33.4". Any reason these wouldn't fit with a 4" spindle lift paired with fox 2.5 coilovers? Right coilover is set at 0.5" and the left is at 0.75" to make up for the lean.

This was my clearance on 295s before doing my my cmc. Clears on the streets, but went ahead and did the chop before taking offroad. Ran on 0 offset wheels with high caster. 3" lift.
