The main one I've heard is the transmission issues. I know there's more but I don't care enough about the third gen to look into it.

I wouldn't know, I don't have any interest in FWD vehicles of any brand, and I don't really like hatchbacks/wagons.

People bitched about Toyota trucks not having good mileage. So toyota built them a truck that gets good mileage. They did that with a transmission that is programmed to select the best gear and deliver the best mileage. Yes, it shifts a lot, so people bitch about it. Never heard of one failing in any way.

It looks like there is some intent from the parts channel JIT suppliers to adjust inventory for declining demand. It starts to show when a limited set of authentic OEM parts start appearing on eBay. So there is a storm of parts that hit as the channel lowers inventory levels and cuts back on order projections for the next year. After a year or more of inventory leveling, the cost starts to climb with the inventory adjustments.

Sometimes I see RockAuto list parts for a given vehicle series at major discounts under wholesaler closeout.

Its good to know where to find the good stuff through alternate sources.

Hopefully we can still get reboxed OEM for years to come from brands like Spicer, National, and Intermotor.

Better than 2nd gen V6. The 19 we had for a month got 23ish. Not an ecoboost, but really good for a Toyota truck.

    My dads 08 gets 17.

Agreed, having older vehicles my entire life from childhood to now has made me savvy in finding quality for vehicles with long since discontinued parts. It doesn't bother me any more, I really like those threads because it helps aftermarket folks find niches and it helps others come together to share rare items or where they found work arounds. Builds more of a connected network of people too. The car scene where I live is incredible like that. So many vintage Japanese vehicles all still running happily with owners who are friends and colleagues.

From being around some other "rare car" clubs, I've seen that first hand. The more rare the car, the more the owners look out for each other.

For cars like the air-cooled Franklins in the pictures, most all of the owners around the country know each other. They have an annual meet that usually lasts around 4 days on the east and west coast. For the NY meets, they rent a college campus for a week, the members stay in the dorms, and have the cooks that prepare and serve meals in the college cafeteria. Its a week of non-stop car trivia talk about any brand. There are members that own machine shops that make customer replacement parts since the car company went out of business in the 1930s. Amazing how people come together over a car brand.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
We’ve had 2 transmissions fail in the newer tacos. Both from failed trans coolers allowing coolant into the trans fluid

I'll grab some in a bit, gettin ready to play poker at a buddy's house. Gotta win back some of the money I spent on this lol.

Just went with a flat black nothin too fancy, probably should've done a couple more coats though
