Fuck me $400 for one new OEM CV axle.

I have an FEQ brand CV on the passenger side that the shop that did my wheel bearing this time last year installed, had never heard of them before but it's held up great this past year. Think I might go with one of those for the drivers side, about $140 ea.

Then get a reboot kit for the OEM one I'm taking out

 

Was it an OEM boot that tore or an aftermarket?

The longest that I've owned a given car was 11 years. But my son drove it most of the time in the last 2-3 years. After 7 to 10 years I start looking for something different. Doesn't matter if it was new or used when I bought it. That's historically been my limit.

 

Plenty. Their fine trucks. Hell I’ve only had 3 come in with low fluid. Which was apparently a massive issue. The coolant contamination issue is present on all models Toyota’s. And it’s not super common. The 3rd gens are solid trucks. Just not my cup of tea. But then again the 2nd gen isn’t either. I like my compact truck

Some Honda models (Ridgeline included) went through a number of transmission coolant contamination issues due to failed radiator connections. It was caused by rust on a washer from road salt. There were a number of people that were hit with that issue.

Toyota uses a puck now. Manufacturing defects are an issue with them. Hell camrys have a massive warranty enhancement for torque converters due to coolant contamination
