Just weld it to the frame

 

Okay, well that might be a bit easier because you can choose to either cut a step notch in the tube to get your angle or you can cut an angle and lay the sliders in. Whatever floats your tits

 

What purpose would they serve if you weld them directly to the frame?

What do most people do? I have no idea. I've got an expert welder to do everything for me, I just need to get all the bits and bobs right.

I remember you sent me a link to slider mounts with the arms already.

 

Oh you're great, exactly that. My sliders look exactly like that with a slight angle to them.

 

Look at pictures for inspiration I suppose. My sliders didn't come pre angled, I just had the guy eyeball em with me and then we mirrored the other side, but I had round tubes and my legs were already fished and cut to length

 

This gives me a excuse to buy a port a band so i can cut you tubes

Take a look at what @Kwikvette posted, those are the ones I have. They are pre-angled from the company. I just don't have anything like the arms or brackets.

 

I've been back and forth on sliders; I'm going with a bolt on solution in the event that I may ever want to remove the sliders IE damage, repaint, etc.

Having them welded on is great and all, but I'd rather have a hinge/bolt fail in a catastrophic event vs getting the frame twisted.

 

I'm torn between welding and bolting them on, I'd say I want it bolted on since the front bumper is also bolted on.

Also can anyone explain what the hell is up with the 1998-2000 frame horns? We had to cut them back 4" inches, and cut the skid plate bracket off in the process to get the bumper to sit right.

 

They just end up breaking off and fucking your bodywork in that event, so basically no reason at all to have them. They're there to protect your bodywork, the way they are attached to the frame they aren't going to bend it much or at all. I bounced on my sliders in my rollover rather hard

 

They changed it for no reason so you have to cut it all because companies make bunpers fit normal tacos ans force you to cut yours up

I know there are a ton of threads about Kings Canyon, and I'd get shit for posting a thread on it, but I'd love at least a few recommendations/coordinates on trails to take.

 

Do you think I should bolt on my sliders, or weld them on?

 

Problem with bolting them on, if you actually use your sliders, is it’s another fatigue point to keep an eye on. Bolts stretch, proper welds won’t.

 

If they're exactly as he posted then all you have to do is cut some straight tube or square tube to the right length so you have your slider sitting at a distance you like.

 

Weld 100%, paint em first. You can cut em off if you have to one day

 

Why not both
