I’ve said many times, remove aftermarket alarm, throw in garbage, enjoy a cold beer!

I think the remote start alarms like Viper are but with the invention of the transponder key/immobilizer what is the point. If a thief wants your car it’s getting towed off. Smash n grabs are fast so an alarm is worthless for that too.

Why did you wait 2 months ?
I am kinda new to this site and am still trying to figure out if this is an attempt at comedy, does everyone have too much time on their hands or does this site have a purpose that has since alluded me ?
I have to assume you are joking otherwise why in the name of common sense would you wait 2 months or even buy a vehicle without knowing what a particular item is for ?
    Just saying.

Weird reply. Maybe he just never looked under the dash. Seemed a little condescending for no reason.

Dang! I just now noticed the thing, I work 60-80 hours a week during the summer, don't really have time to crawl under my dash between work and rock crawling, thanks for the replies and ejecto seato jokes!

This, and it's worthless crap... and to top it off, they cut the starter wire from the ignition switch to install it, and 99.9% chance the rest of the wires got installed with frigging vampire taps.

Mine came with the same damn thing, I saw it when I bought it, figured that's what it was, but didn't dig any farther for a few months myself. When I read the horror stories I almost wished I had... but TBH it probably isn't enough to tip the scales and make me not want the truck.

I dug around and cut off the main box (was zip tied to the steering shaft shroud) and got all the vampire taps off. I ended up having to splice a couple inches of wire in to rejoin where they cut it for the starter interrupt. But that, and the fact that the insulation on every wire they tapped is now compromised a little, are the only lasting effects.

Not that it would ever happen, but IMO dealers who pull that crap should have to include a statement along the lines of "we made irreversible modifications to the vehicle you're about to buy to install this piece of aftermarket equipment, and both the modifications and the equipment may one day cause a failure that won't be covered under warranty."
