Union Station is relatively safe, with an attached parking garage. The surrounding neighborhood is OK to drive through, but not a good place to walk through at night. Do not park on the street.

 

Oh - Good Morning everyone! 1st day of last week of vacation for 2019!
(only going in to work on Monday & Tuesday - but short days, like only 8 hours each day.)

Man, I grew up off that exit. Craigie Ave...a left-right-two lefts off of east main street. Mom still lives there. It looks nothing like the old area. I've watched it change gradually. When I was a kid there was a cool diner at the corner off Scott rd and east main st. It blew up (literally) one night. The concrete pad remained for years.
Got off my train of thought, if I'm free that weekend I'm into going.
I sprayed my mom and brothers houses last week but don't recall if McDonald's was open or closed. When the did the one off my exit it Danbury, it seemed to take longer than necessary.

 

Danbury & Brookfield McD's redo's seemed to take forever for not much apparent change.

That could work. What's the rough time and cost that you recall for the Metro to NYC?

 

The cost varies as to peak or non-peak time. Check Metro North website for rail ticket price for New Haven to GCS. Not sure on parking fee.
My more recent experiences at the New Haven Union Station have been picking up family members from an Amtrak trip. Perhaps a more current Metro North rider could chime in.

 

Looks good man!!! So do you have to cut the bottom valence to get it to fit? I see one for $75 in ma and another for $270. I like the look.

 

No modifications needed, it bolts right over the factory skid. You can buy one new from Toyota for $200 so don't pay the $270. The one in Massachusetts looks pretty straight (they are aluminum so with care can be worked). I bet you can get it for $50. If so you beat me ...

you need to input your stations. Manhattan / Grand Central Station is one end. New Haven is the other.
The line is the New Haven Line.

looks like 2hours, 10 minutes for a "local" train which makes all stops. If you play around you may find an "Express" which skips a lot of stops & saves much time. If you get on at one of the early stops seats should be plentiful. If you get on close to the end seats may be hard to come by - but shouldn't be an issue on your journey. Don't be late, they will NOT wait for you - LOL.

I don't know the difference between New Haven vs. NH-State St.

It lists round trip off peak at $35.50.

Buy your ticket online or at the station. If you buy your ticket on the train it is ~ a $7 surcharge. Plus they only sell 1 way on the train, so that will also cost you more as two 1-way cost more than 1 round-trip. As an example two 1-way peak onboard would cost $60, but 1 roundtrip peak at the station costs $47, so a $13 penalty.

I was gonna try and get in touch, he’s in ma so not super far. Not selling any from parts pile. Lol. It’s parts I’ve been buying to put on. Like a stock roof rack, new grill surround to color match to my truck for a pro grill, some more odds and end things. Hopefully lifting it soon also.
