Motive or Vacuum bleeders

Ive got a motive brake bleeder. Although the manual says to do two person method. Has anyone used either bleeder with success? I used it when I had my 2002 Tacoma with no issues although that truck had no abs. Thanks.

 

I use the old tried and true method.

Mason or Gatorade bottle and a 1/4 inch tube about 3 feet long. Add some clean fluid to the bottom of the bottle, attach line to bleeder tit,
Open tit, push the brake pedal about 8 times, check fluid level in res, fill as needed....repeat.

Never a bubble or air intrusion.

(Will use a vac pump for master cylinder or line replacement just to get the fluid moving. Usually a hand pump though)

 

I have the Motive bleeder, it works as advertised. This is the cap that will work with our trucks by the way:

what is this "the manual" you speak of?

 

Where did you find the quick discount fitting that attaches to the cap?

 

This is the easiest, fastest and cheapest way.

 

Any hardware store should carry it. Didn't one come with the Motive unit?

 

My one person bleeder.
Just make sure fluid is above end of tube in bottle.
Worked good on my 08

Yes no air is able to get back in.
If it sucks it sucks fluid.
If a second person is available I do the two person pump hold bleed.
The bottle actually worked well for me.

Just pick up one of these bad boys: For $33 it is very handy; you can bleed/flush lines in under 30 minutes for the whole truck. Sure it's more expensive than the soda bottle method, but less fuss.

 

I’ve done both didn’t seem to matter.
I’ve also just let gravity do it’s thing.

 

I have the same adapter and it works fantastic. I've used it to bleed my Tacoma, and my neighbors Scion TC and Tundra. Makes bleeding the clutch super easy as well. One issue to look out for is the condition of the hoses with the motive bleeder. They are not reinforced and tend to get brittle after a few years. I replaced mine with reinforced hose after the stock hose burst and sprayed brake fluid all over the place.
