After blowing a sidewall on my stt pros I couldn't imagine a hybrid tire. I would like a lighter tire though.

Yeah that’s kinda the issue, gotta find a happy median. At least for me I’d like something on the lighter end, stt pros are heavy AF.

Not as heavy as my previous tires though. I ran the original General Grabbers in 35s. Those were really heavy! If I were to ever run an AT again it would be k02s. Yeah they run small but BFG has always been a good tire for me. I've never had issues with them

I’ve thought about k02s, my buddy runs them on his Jeep and it’s always ran fine. I think I’ll take a closer look at them, I’ve seen milestars Patagonia’s pop up everywhere now too.

Ahhh that’s right. I believe he lives in the east coast right? I’ve seen you guys talk about east vs west coast wheeling. Crazy stuff out there lol.

Thanks for the tag, I’m in Colorado! For what it’s worth, I ran bfg 35x12.5r17 and Cooper 315/70r17 and have not had a difference in clearancing. Once I switched from 4.3” backspacing wheels to 3.5” is when it got harder to fit

I’ve actually considered moving to Colorado because of the trails you guys have out there. California is getting way too expensive too.

Seems like 4” BS is a sweet spot.

How do you make your truck sit lower at ride height, clear 37s, and only rub at lock? This is a genuine question, not saying you don't do it.

Yeah 4” is right around the place you want to be. Unless you have a shock relocation in the rear. I rub my shock bodies at full articulation even with the 3.5” BS

I don’t know if his is LT or not but my 37’s don’t rub at anything other than full lock either. Well the maybe 1/4 turn from full lock.

Even though I'm a 2nd Gen, I expected unending cutting until it fits in every use. I still rub on the cab mount daily driving, but I'm still deciding relocate over aggressive chop. I posted my wheel specs earlier, but I'm not familiar with 3rd Gen stuff.

The tires are huge compared to 33s. I think at less than 2.5" of lift, looks are better with 33-34" tires, and at around 3+" of lift 35s or bigger.

I went to 315s for multiple reasons. The first is they're slightly smaller than true 35s, so i can incrementally cut depending on brand and model. The second is that I needed more clearance, based upon the size from wheeling, without impacting my suspension. I want more travel, not less, so i decided that cutting my way to bigger tires was what I needed to do next.

Still catching up so it may have been noted or a comparison.

They are 2nd gens but 315/70/17 and 295/70/17 KM3s both on SCS Ray 10 3.5 BS at least give you a side by side. The 295’s are still pretty wide.

I’m in the middle of working through fitting them.

Ah I see what you’re saying. When people say “285s” they’re referring to the common size of 285/70r17. The size you’re looking at of 285/75r17 is a fairly uncommon size. Great size though.

    I use SCS F5s with 3.5 backspace and -25mm on 16x8 wheel.

Had to chop cab mount all the way to a bolt and trim front fenders (1” lift up front for now duh..., 3” coming). Gusset spindles, gusset alignment tabs and bunch of other little things - it works well on trails. There is rub on cab mount in reverse and at full lock occasionally, but I don’t turn my wheels all the way on a regular basis. I can live with a bit of rub for now.

Oh nice man that’s helpful! What kind of backspacing on each of them?

Looks like you do a fair bit of flexing, good to know that’s all the rubbing you get. What size tire exactly are you running?

Exactly. 285/75/16 is no problem though. A 295/75/17 would be great but it’s not a thing I guess. When it comes to 285s and 295s the 285s are usually taller by a hair just due to aspect ratio.

Yep! I’ve been looking at those now too, and I guess going 17 would be good as it would allow me to upgrade my brakes to the new 4Runner ones? Especially with 35s might be a good idea.
