4.99% 36 months with freedom road financial. Not the best but it really isnt much of a problem if i pay it off in a year.

So I went looking for a new bike yesterday. These are the bikes I looked at and the ktm690r I haven't seen yet. But I can't figure which one I want.

Also disappointed that the yamaha isn't street legal nice looking bike.

What are you looking to do? Mx/trails (single track, double, fireroads?)/street?

Out of those id go 500 and never look back. The 690 is fun but i personally wont ever want to take it down singletrack, better bikes for that.

Six days have some nice farkle stuff but personally its some stuff i could live without. Never had an issue with normal triple clamps so the cnc ones are just fancy

Both those 450s arent going to be street friendly. The wr would be but i think the 500 would still be the better bike.

Well you could tag the wr. Some states will let you or theres the south dakota tag route.

New Jersey can be little funky about it also every dealer I went to says they won't tag the wr. Been years since I rode a dirtbike so should be fun. I've had the cbr1000rr since 2004. Still have it but want to change it up a alittle bit

500 is the better bike, no question about it - I will own one someday. I have a WR450F because it is cheaper and I have owned them for years so easy to work on and they are still more reliable. Gone are the days that the KTM's had major problems, but the bottoms ends are still not as strong and a few in my riding group have catastrophically failed (this is a stunt group and those were all drifting so take that for what it is worth). It all depends on mileage. Most people do not ride there dirt bikes that often. I have been riding my WR every weekend for years and I still have no had to shim the valves and am on the original top end, thats pretty insane. Biggest negative on the WR450F is the 5 speed transmission. Why Yamaha continues to not put in a 6 speed in beyond me.

WR450F are really easy to street legal. Just takes a $100 kit and some paperwork and you are good to go (depending on state, worst case scenario there is Dirt Legal).

I also paid 3.5k for a Supermoto Steel Frame and you can buy 2012+ all day for 3.5k. Again, most people do not ride and you would be surprised what turns up used. Neither the KTM nor the new WR450F are worth triple the price of a used bike. Could seriously buy a fully stunted 636, Supermoto WR450F with dirt tires and have money left over to put into a Dyna. 10K+ for a dirtbike is insane and will instantly depreciate by thousands once you take it off the lot.

All that being said, If I was going to make a payment on a toy it would be the regular 500exc, no question about it.
