i found a steal on a set of Fabtech 3.5” lift coils and shocks, going to pick it up soon. My question is I already have bilstein 5100 shocks, should I use those instead of the Fabtech shocks or use the Fabtech shocks? Just want a smoother ride on road.

If you use the 5100's on other company shocks and they blow or whatever technically Bilstein does not have to warranty the shock. No guarantees but I have seen this happen. And will those coils give you 3.5 inches of lift?

    Stick with the Bilsteins.

If you want a "smoother" ride on road, a progressive shock like Fox or Kings may be a better fit for you.

Bilsteins work okay with the Fabtech coils?

Why are you bothering with Fabtech at all?

I was pretty sure their lift was some drop bracket kit so it's for looks only.

If you're looking for the aesthetic appeal, I won't add anything further to the thread since I'm not familiar with those types of lifts.

IMO you're taking a hit in performance by going with the fabtech, but those are at least designed to work with the coils. Bilsteins are rated for a 2.5" (maybe 3") lift. You'll over extend them with a 3.5"...

Check the Bilstein site before you buy those coils. Personaly I wouldn't do it.

I found some on Facebook for a really good price, I was either gonna sell the bilstein shocks for the Fabtech ones and keep the coils bc I was gonna get some 881’s but I found these.
why? Are they not good quality or something? Appreciate the advice!

Sounds like I should probably just use the Fabtech ones

Honestly I would stick with the 5100 setup, but that's me. Fabtech always seems to be more about height than actual performance.

If you're going to throw down some money on suspension, go with Fox, Icon, King etc...

If you go for the 3.5", you will definitely need to get it aligned when you're done (should get an alignment after ANY lift), and from what I've seen anything over 3" and there is a good chance you'll need aftermarket upper control arms to be able to get it into factory alignment spec.

5100s are not made for that height. Do you have your heart set on that height? Three and under is a lot easier on your wallet, but 3.5 and higher can be done, but to do it right will cost a couple of bucks.

You can get close to 3 inches with the 5100s and the right coils and a small spacer. But if you do I would get ucas to correct your alignment. I'm running about 2.5 inches up front now. I had trouble with my alignment so I picked up some new ucas and took it to a place that does alignments on 4wds. Haven't had a problem since.

Edit: Just re-read your original post. You're buying 3.5 inch lift coils because you want a smoother ride? Really???
