I park outside exclusively and it is plenty hot in FL this time of year. If I am driving home from work and the truck has been soaking in the heat all day, it will take a couple of miles to catch up and throttle back from 100%, but the A/C blows cold in very short order.

When any car is soaked in the sun for 8+ hours, it's going to take some time to cool off all the ducts, interior, trim, etc before it stops feeling hot outside of the air stream.

Besides the floor vents, there are no rear vents. I have had passengers complain on short rides, but on longer rides they beg for me to turn the air down.

gets 100 here in summer and AC worked great for me. Only had kids in back once when that hot and they said it was fine. My subaru before this had crappy ac--much prefer the Tacoma one.

That depends on how long the road trip and how lively their complaining becomes, doesn't it? I've been on road trips that could easily have wound up featured on "Forensic Files".

Thanks for all the replies! Yeah, I'm in the south. Middle Tennessee, actually. Gets pretty hot in the summer months. I think I got enough good responses to convince me the a/c should be fine thanks again!

Ac works great while driving but has a problem of not being effective when idling or driving slow once it’s heat soaked from driving. The fans just aren’t moving enough air at idle. There’s a tsb for this that adds an aux fan that I’m having done next time the truck goes in. I have an ‘18 double cab off road. In southwest Florida 90’s and humid heat index of over 105.

Kind of a personal preference thing. I like it cooler than the rest and it keeps me comfortable and them cold.

I find both the heat and A/C to be pretty slow to get going. After 15 min or so they both seem to be adequately strong. None the less its pretty lame there's no vents in the back.

It’s hot as balls in Texas and I have no complaints with the Tacoma AC. Shit works like a champ. But I’ve never been in the back seat...

It’s very good. Tested in triple digit temps of the north Texas summer.

Another Texas quad cab owner here. They could have shaved 1/4 adjustment off the temp control and I would still have no complaints

My old doggo seems to be happy with it. She’s black and gets very hot in the summer and I plop her in the back after a nice walk and she goes from panting away to having a nice comfy snooze in no time.

My friend's dog enjoyed licking the A/C vents in my truck when I had the air on...

We feel the a/c is very good. Girlfriends mom one said my truck has the best back seat a/c of anything she has been in.

Of course you should test drive with your car seat. Make sure it fits and that you and the kid will be comfortable. I made it a point to bring my girls and threw their booster seats in the back and we all went for a test drive together. Had to be sure everyone would fit before purchasing!

Also, they haven't really complained about temperature back there in the year I've had it, so I think it works fine. I'm in MN, so temperature swings from below zero during the winter and 90s and humid in the summer.

I’ve got two lil ones and live in SoCal. Ac works fine and my youngest is in a rear facing car seat. Toyo ac gets really cold. My x5 was still hot even with rear ac and crystalline front tint and lunar heat resisting tint in the back. I bought cheap usb rechargeable fans from Amazon and hung these in my x5 for the really hot days. My kids loved them. Haven’t had to use them in the taco.

to add to my previous statement i do have ceramic tint on my front side windows which rejects a % of heat gain through the windows. So if your AC is inadequate that helps.

I have two car seats in mine, my AC is great. My wife and daughter always tell me to turn it down, cools very fast.

Ha-ha, I love my window down, while the rest of the windows are up and A/C blowing hard. Drives my wife nuts, but I feel summer is too short to be windowed up for the summer!
