that looks super easy to make. If my welder didnt burn up in a fire..... could probably be done with a cheap welder...

Well thats no bueno, yeah im sure it wouldnt take much. I just dont know anyone off hand with the equipment and buying even a cheap welder to make a tool that I can buy for $50 seems a little counter productive. Lol.

 

I will be in Dallas on Sept 28th... going to hit up the REI Dallas Block Party that morning as I have some stuff to return to REI and then purchase a couple things and then go to the State Fair and volunteer with TPWD at their building... but will get to the fair early to walk around and get some fair food.

So if anyone wants to join me at REI for a little bit to hang out or something for a mini meet!

 

haha. i wasnt suggesting to go buy one. But if someone has a cheap welder it would probably work. Dont really need a lot of penetration in the welds so no need for a big expensive one.

 

Sounds like a good time. Ill be at the park place supercar showcase that day.

 

Keep in mind I know ZERO about welders, but would something like this work? I wouldnt mind throwing $90 at one to have one around and mess with.

Hello DFW! New guy here just "finished" (it's never really finished) up build last weekend and a small wheelin trip yesterday. Coming at you guys from Keller TX. Hoping to make this next meet coming up at the end of the month. Hope everybody had a great weekend!

 

Yes probably but you also need welding rods for that particular type of welder. There are typically 3 types of welders... stick, tig, and mig. All will bond but with different methods. Also as an FYI, this is for steel only. And no you can not weld steel to aluminum

Nice setup! Just make sure you check those mount points on the top of the shock....

 

9/10 times it would probably be steel only. If I thought I trusted my welds at all I may try my hand at like exhaust pipes and such. All the structural parts are going to be done by someone who knows what they are doing. Honestly its probably not even worth the investment at this point. 90% of the car is going to be bolt on, the rest is structural.
