My best friend Pete (A.K.A. Petey, Peter, Peter Pumpkin, Pumpkin, Pumpkin butt, etc.). We’ve had him since he was a few months old. He’s 11. The people we bought him from bred Poodles and apparently had a pet male Chihuahua too, and I guess the Chihuahua snuck into the mix. Pete’s siblings weren’t nearly as cute, apparently. I guess he hit the phenotype lottery. My wife (my girlfriend at the time) and I had just graduated high school and she was still living with her parents, who told her she couldn’t get a dog. I was renting a house with my buddy, under my ‘own roof and rules’, so my wife decided she was gonna buy Pete anyway and he would be “my dog” *makes air quotes*. Her parents weren’t fooled for a second but they’re really nice people and Pete makes a pretty solid case for himself when you meet him, so they let it fly. I had always grown up with big dogs (Labs, German Shorthaired Pointers, etc.) so the small dog was a change for me, But he took all of about two seconds to win me over. He’s the love of my life after my wife. He’s a person as far as I’m concerned, and part of my immediate family. I grew up with traditionally disciplined dogs, and while Pete is disciplined/well-behaved, he has buy-in in our home. We just treat him like he’s half child, half adult family member, if that makes sense. Hard to explain. Anyway, without further ado:

Chillin’. We left him intact (because I advocated for him for years against my wife and vet, because I don’t buy for a second that it’s correct 100% of the time to neuter every size and breed. It depends on a lot of different variables) until a couple of years ago when he started having some complications that warranted neutering him for his future safety.

At the lake. It’s pretty easy to see the water retriever in him. That dude loves playing in the water. Ponds, puddles, Lakes, streams in CO, whatever.

Anyway, that’s my buddy. He’s a very good boy and I love him dearly.

He must be disciplined to get those boots on him. I have sun glasses for Barney but he will not keep them on. Maybe once he puts together his head out the truck window if he keeps the goggles on they will stay put

Come on,Stick your hand in this car window..lol
Dogs think the car is their home also, I thought my yellow lab would not hurt a fly. This is going back 20 years, A mN went to stick his hand in the car window and she was growling at him.A side I never seen on her, so lesson learned for me.
How about when you get company and dogs do not like certain people. They just know if you are a dog lover or not.
