smaller sub woofers but the same big sound

i have a 09 tacoma double cab i have two 10inch subwoofers behind the back seat i think the max for each is 700 watts i have a two channel 300watt amp. well i would like to get more room in my cab for storage and my subwoofers take up quite a bit of room behind my seat pretty much 2/3 of the space. i've had the woofers for many years and i was woundering with todays technology if there was a smaller more compact alternetive that will take up less room but still give me the same power. does any one know of any thing i could look in to?

 

The same amount as two 10's might be a little tough to accomplish but I've done something similar. I'd recommend two of the Tang Band 6.5's in a ported box. It could be fairly small and would still bang pretty hard. You could also just go with a single better 10 and run twice as much power.

 

i just recently installed the new kicker tcvt 10" which comes with the box running full 400watt rms and i had to turn the gains down. depending on the type of music you listen to it hits hard. As with all shallow mounts there are some notes it struggles to hit because of the depth but for what i use it for its great.. small box, big sound and it was like 120 shipped

 

Might try disconnecting one of your current subs, then connect up the other to ensure full power gets to it. You can then figure out if it's worth having 2 subs, or if one of what you have is actually sufficient.

Comes down to personal preference but I've never been able to hear enough difference between a single 10 and dual 10s to justify it. I know others can, or claim to, and having multiple 6.5s or 8s makes some sense to me, but multiple 10s or greater in a truck/car interior, just doesn't seem to be worth any extra SQ (IMHO...).

 

RE Audio subs are have amazing sound quality. I Have the 2 10" rex with a arc audio ks500.1 mini powering them. you could run a variety of subs off of that amp and its a very small amp in size compared to all the others out there. If you wanted just to run 1 sub you might even check into RE Audios Shallow mount sub. I have heard good things about them, just ended up going a different route with my setup.

That is beautiful ItalynStylion! I myself have a Dayton Audio HO10 in a ~0.67 cu. ft. ported box and it plays louder and deeper than the two RE Audio REX10 in a sealed 0.5 cu. ft. box for each. I only have 250 watts going to the Dayton Audio HO10 and i'm really impressed... This is in my '10 double cab behind the rear seats.

Yes, 4 ported 6.5's. And it wasn't expensive at all....just took a lot of hard work!
