    There is quite a bit of labor and time involved in replacing a semi-float wheel bearing.

    Why dont you ask them?
    Then take it to an independent shop or do it yourself. I don't even know why I'd ever have them quote it.

    cause at like 140 an hour or whatever dealers ridiculous shop rate is labor adds up quick

    Reserected from the dead.
    I'm thinking that dealer doesn't have a press and has to take the axle to a machine shop.

    I did both mine for $700. Paid the machine shop to do the work and got new brakes.

    Because many people are happy to go to the dealer in the hopes of getting superior service, at almost any cost, and the dealership is happy to skim that part of the market as long as it keeps them busy enough. There's only so big you can practically get, so why lower your rate and do more work?
