So how are the 295’s working out for you? So you used a sanding disc on the angle grinder to cut majority of the front bumper? More details on the rear hc bumper install would be nice. I’m planning to do CBI front and rear as well.

295s have been great so far, not too much rubbing just at full lock. For the front bumper I lined it up with the laser level the tapped along the line, I then used the cut wheel on the angle grinder and cut pretty close to the line then threw the sanding disc on and sanded it down to the line to get a really smooth finish. Just make sure you have some gloves, long sleeve, and a face shield, the plastic gets really really hot. The rear bumper was a little more difficult, the install instructions were terrible and there werent too many youtube videos on the install. First off removing the rear bumper was a little more intensive than I thought it would be but eventually came off. The rear was just straight cut wheel. I used a cheap angle grinder and cut wheels so i went through a few of them making the cuts. There were two different measurements from the CBI instructions and the instructions that were posted on the forums. I made the first round of cuts and couldnt get the bumper to mount so I had to go back and cut higher. The other hard part was that CBI wasnt very specific on what to cut off or if you needed to cut off below the tail light. I ended up cutting some metal below the tail light because I initially thought that was causing the mounting issue but I think you can mount it without cutting anything below the tail light. I can measure it off another time if you plan on doing it if you want some measurements. After that there are some holes you need to tap into the bedsides to mount up the support bracket, the bedsides get pretty flimsy after you make the cuts. I picked up some touch up paint from o'riley to paint over the exposed metal that I cut but Jason recommended filling the trimming with some sealant which I didnt think to do and probably would have been easier and cheaper. There wasnt much wiring, CBI provides an LED light and it has some exposed wiring that you just put into the holes of the factory plug and I just electric tapped it up.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Yes if you could send me the measurements for the rear bumper that would be awesome. I’m planning on doing the front and rear bumper soon, well as soon as CBI is able to send it out lol. If you even happen to have any pictures while you were installing it that would help also.

Was the touch up paint you used the brush on type? That’s another thing I’m worried about is protecting the exposed metal after cutting the bedsides. Do you know what type of sealant Jason recommended? Curious to know that as well. Also, does the bumper have cutouts for the license plate lights?

I had to wait 6 months for all my CBI stuff which was pretty frustrating. The product is quality but the customer service and lead times leaves a lot to be desired. I didn’t really take a lot of pictures while doing the install. I was on a time crunch so I just wanted to jam through it. I did use the touch up paint on the brush. Pretty much like a silicon sealant. You can’t really see it so doesn’t matter if it doesn’t look nice. CBI gives you their own LED license plate light. It doesn’t use the factory lights. They provide the hardware and it’s really easy to wire up. Don’t even need to cut or sauder anything.

Yeah I’ve heard all the stories of how people wait up to 6 months to get their order from CBI. I’m willing to wait that long for the quality and not to mention I like the look of their bumpers. Thanks again for all the info man and if you ever get a chance to send me those measurements that would be great.

Damn I’m on Maui, but I’ll send you a pm to possibly get your number if thats okay. Just in case if I run into any problems during the install and maybe you can give me some pointers if you don’t mind.

You have any issues cutting above the bolt in the wheel well? Pelfreybilt instructions strong suggest against it, but the fender clips should be more than enough to hold.

The CBI has a bracket that attaches to the frame then you punch a hole through the fender and bolt the bracket to the fender so there is no flapping around at all. I ran it without the bracket for maybe two days until I could get the hole punched and it was pretty floppy. Once the bracket was on no issues though.
