That is a good deal! Mine were ~$125 each

I have had this setup a week now and my brakes are not only smooth as glass but I really do think they stop a bit better. I feel like I am applying less pressure than I previously have.

I'm going to add in SS brake lines as well. Gonna be sweeeeeeet. How'd the break in process go for you? Did you do the dynamic braking one or the drive around one?

@Texoma did the bedding process after he finished the install. He can give you more info on that.

It was funny while doing it. During the first hard stop we passed a guy jogging and he did not like what we were doing...:rofl::rofl:

Word. Yeah I've been scoping out spots to pull off the multiple high speed stops and I think I've determined it will likely be done under cover of night :D

still reading this thread and thankful for the information

as much as I want these slotted cryo StopTech rotors and TRD ceramic pads, at $300/front I can't help but wonder if it's absolutely necessary,
or what to think about the much cheaper options listed on RockAuto

context: am looking at just buying new parts to install when taking apart front brakes for diagnosis, to address pulsating front brakes; to avoid wasting time turning them to a fresh cut on a lathe

For example: I hear PowerStop is good to use on any vehicle.
and a kit of pads and rotors (Front) for a Tacoma lists at $72 on RockAuto

I dont know if anyone has mentioned these but Brakemotive discs sold on Ebay are pretty good. Now my experience with them is on a Corvette not a truck. Many vette owners use these with great results. They do make rotors for Tacos.

If the 4R rotor is slightly larger and it uses the same pads as the taco, couldn't you take this up notch and use cryo slotted rotors for the 4R?

@outxider did you buy just the rotors? What code did you use? I tried SUMMER and it didn't work.

I was new to the site so they gave me a one time use coupon $100 off over $250. $215 shipped for both rotors. One was on backorder, but thats ok since I'm piecing it together slowly.

The StopTechs are not absolutely necessary, many are happy with stock. My objective was to find an actual rotor upgrade in the stock size, despite what most brands will attempt to sell you, very few actually exist. When looking inexpensive/cheap, much of it can be similar. You can get OEM rotors for $60/ea. Any stock size “performance” rotor, unless StopTech or DBA is not a true performance rotor and will likely reduce performance over stock. StopTech and DBA are the only two I am aware of that have reengineered the rotor for improved performance, most all others take an OEM copy, remove material (reduces performance) and typically make it over seas for cheaper and often lower quality. One advantage is many do offer better corrosion inhibition than stock. PowerStop will not be on the same level as StopTech, their rotors are lower performing than stock, standard recipe taking a stock style Chinese made blank and remove material with drilling and slotting and sell it as a performance product. Doesn’t mean you need the best brakes out there of course, but I’d avoid any Chinese made drilled rotors. Replacing the rotors and pads should fix pulsating brakes, short of a sticking caliper.

Never heard of them but from what I can tell they are a low price China manufacture that is successful selling on eBay and uses ebay as their main sales point/web presence. No personal experience with them.

Yes, you definitely could and it would be a good upgrade. But when you start adding the expense of the caliper swap (if using quality parts) you might also start consider comparing to a proper BBK which will give you far superior calipers and optionally far better directional rotors than available as stock size for the 4Runner, though the 4Runner swap with StopTechs will still be cheaper.

Goodridge SS lines seem like a popular upgrade too.
Sorry if this was covered already, but is this brake upgrade a good limit? Or is worth doing more, such as bigger calipers from a different model Toyota or something?
    I hear Tundra parts fit.

edit: nvm, will research 4runner calipers and aftermarket calipers

So I have a trdor 09 tacoma that calls for DOT3... can I flush the system and put a DOT4 brake fluid in there or is the dot 3 better for these brake systems?

either DOT 4 or 3 , based on that article LUCAS DOT3 looks as good as dot4 stuff, and available at local auto stores IMO

Got my Goodrich stainless steel brake lines. These things look well made.

Also had a box of Stoptech BMW pads somehow included in my shipment.
