So my sister found some old pics at our mom’s house and took me back in the nostalgia machine lol. The pic of my truck (Dads truck) is circa 1995 and the gold Taco (Moms truck) was a 97 5 speed circa 97-98. Check out those 31” Mickey Thompson bajas baby!! :bananadance:

Well, just signed up to get a couple of spaces at the "Rollercoaster Yard Sale" in the Dale Hollow Lake Region. Should be interesting, sort of a smaller version of the 127 Yard sale. I'll be Just Outside Albany, Ky. right on hwy 90, at a store called "Stuff".

I've had an ongoing vibration in my truck since new. I'm finally to the point of really wanting it gone. It's really only noticeable at higher speeds and is aggravating when trying to cruise on the highway. It just stresses me out and make the experience less than ideal.

I have 33's and aftermarket suspension, so of course every dealership in the area is being a twat about it and won't even look at it. (side note, if I could carpet bomb Oxmoor Toyota, I would....)

I've had tires balanced 4 times by 2 shops with exactly 0 difference.

What are other causes? again, it's been this way since new. Driveshaft or axles out of spec? What else?

Does anyone have the expertise or tools to check the runout on driveshaft or axles? I want to have evidence before I go knocking on Toyota's door again. I called an indy shop and they wanted $100-150 to diagnose (which I'm borderline willing to pay at this point). There have been reports of axles and bearings out of spec from toyota on 3rd gens, so that's why I'm leaning this way with my suspicions.

    Help?

Hang a go-pro off the sliders to get a vid of your rear driveshaft in action.

If it's done since new, then it may need something done to the diff itself. Maybe bad u joints or center support bearing (we all call it 'carrier bearing')

Hope to sweet baby heysoos it isn't what I'm dealing with

Def not the same issue you have, I read you build thread today, sounds like a nightmare

It's a subtle vibration, bit noticable enough that my wife has commented on several occasions. I'm pretty sure if I painted my truck orange she wouldn't notice, so this is significant.

It's enough to just make my blood pressure rise when I otherwise adore the truck. Maybe I'll put the rear on some jack stands and put it in gear to see if anything looks out of place?

Side note, other than the current issues, you've been enjoying the 4.88s, right?

It's not a complete nightmare, it didn't lock up the rear and snap axle shafts or drive line like twigs.
Oh, it's definitely at the top of my favorite mods! A little much for a v6 only on 33s like you. Myself, 4.56 would be more ideal in a 4 banger on 33s that sees more street than dirt, but heck em.

These V6 like to sing, I don't think it would be overkill at all. I hardly use 6th because of the gearing, it wants to turn something like 1700rpm at 70mph

It's on my "eventually wish list" for sure
