Thanks, it really wasn’t bad and has already passed. A little wind and rain, but at least out here in Chesapeake it wasn’t much.

My parents are in the Little Neck area of Virginia Beach and they said all is okay, minus the lack of power. Heard some areas South of you guys, especially Ocracoke, really got hammered. Record flooding

Yikes, we were lucky and didn’t lose power at all today. Just binge watched Netflix because I didn’t have to work.

I think I moved out of the area right when you moved in. End of June. Haven’t seen rain since, kinda sucks haha

You're talking shipyard periods. I can only assume either Navy or Merchant Marine.

There's a good chance on this. Are they yours? Were these before they started using the Flowform molding process? How bad of balancing issues are we talking about?

Is the rock rash fixable or able to be touched up?

Sorry to have struck a nerve. Who is them? The shipyard? The Navy? Merchant Marine?

That's because MSC has had a surplus of personnel for the past two years. Prior to that, they were hiring like crazy. Are you stuck in the pool right now? At the height of the worker surplus, folks were waiting 2 months and more in the pool for an assignment. There were just too many people.

Currently floating in the pool, from what I understand they have a shortage of administrative personal and the backlog for new applicants is about two years. Which is currently leading to a shortage of mariners.

Shipyards lol. Newport News and others. I’m a jam up welder but can’t even get a test to show them. Cause I’m from out of town I guess it’s a who you know thing.

Didn’t strike a nerve but it is frustrating. Always hear how much they’re hiring but I can’t even get a call back lol. Stupid.

I don't miss the mercy of the shipyards man. Many of my buddies from college work for HI and man the schedule dictates so much out there. I left the beach solely cause it got annoying relying on the Navy's needs all the time in order to have continued employment.

I’m just trying to work there for a little cause my wife will be there until the navy ships us off somewhere else. I’d like to keep working while we do this adventure lol

....sounds like typical MSC. I have many friends who sail with them. And many more who have left for greener pastures. Sorry to hear about the struggle.

All true about the schedule dictating everything. When it comes down to it, they will cut every corner they can and work their people like dogs to get a ship out on time. Just the nature of the beast unfortunately.

I work in plants aka industrial construction so I’m used to that lifestyle. Hell, just pulled a 24 hour straight work day the other week cause a important piece of equipment broke.

Just need to get a weld test with them so I can get a few paychecks while I’m in the area
