We went through fins ‘n things , Slick Rock and some of hells revenge this past Tuesday. Met two guys in nicely equipped white 3rd gens driving though some bad-Azz sections. Very nice folks too. We were on our motorcycles. I have a couple photos of the Tacomas. I’ll post when I’m done having all this fun!

Not today, but so far on my grand trek across North America (and not in order) -

    1. Fins & Things at Moab - my first introduction to sloooowwww, get-out-and-spot technical offroading. I much prefer the mud of AK.

    2. Engineer Pass, Colorado - fun trail, views reminded me of home (which is to say, epic) ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL to a stock Tacoma headed up on the west side. My undercarriage will never be the same. Wind almost blew my then-ground tent away as i was sleeping in it, that’s when i decided to order a RTT

    3. Forget the name of this pass, same area - loose shale rock over a steep cliff. Surprised that my friend who is afraid of heights had done it

    4. SNOW! In the middle of July!

    5. Same Pass. Some chunks were so steep i needed low range just for the gearing (manual trans)

    6. A random cattle ranch off the highway between Las Vegas and Moab. Sneaky camping is the best camping

    7. An OHV area between Moab and Colorado. Remniscent of the moon

8 & 9. Toquerville Falls, northeast of Vegas - Very, very bumpy ride, but having that waterfall to myself, and sleeping on the tonneau cover under the stars - well worth it

    10. Some random telecomm trail in Canada. Awoke at 6am to my dog growling at something in the woods :/

11-14. Mojave Road. Things did not go well. Blew out the rear shocks, busted my RTT & rack, and flooded the interior. Swamp smell will not go away. Perfect excuse for a lift tho

15-17. The quest for Mt Shasta. Easy enough to get there by pavement, but i wanted to take the fun way. It’s a good thing california pinstripes don’t bother me. The rock sliders i’d bought a week prior saved my ass when i bonsai’d over a boulder i hadn’t seen at about 15mph

Flexing the Taco in the city. Trying out my new rear suspension. It's got more flex I'm sure of it.

Took a weekend trip down to Ouray this last weekend. Took the taco down Black Bear pass. It is every bit as crazy as they say it is.

Nice! I was there last month, but didn’t realize black bear pass was one way, so took a different route. Cool view of Telluride right?

This is just one of many I've got to post but it's my camp setup on Medano Pass Primitive Road roughtly 3/4 the way up in the Great Sand Dunes Nat Park in Colorado. It was an epic trip!

We drove to the top of the pass from the park entrance and made notes of which camp sites we liked and then headed back down and picked this one. The stars were out a little bit.... haha

It was fun to meet you guys, I got to watch you drive a bit and was very impressed. I was on the orange dirt bike with friends and my wife along. Fins and things:

We saw you again on hell’s revenge while we were on slick rock. I honked and waved.

What part of KS? I have friends from the Parsons area and visit there often. It’s so flat there haha. Every time I go up there I always end missing my Mississippi forests

Were you able to make the switch-backs on Black Bear in one turn? I’m thinking they may have taken some maneuvering. I have only done it on a bike. The 100yd section with the drop and steps were mentally challenging for sure!
