    Long ass day, just settling in... so, i will be brief...
    S10, find a 4.3, and a 5spd, stripped, and youre golden. Had one form 17, into my first marraige(and enlistment)... thing took a beating... my buddies called it a timex.... not the best on fuel though(4x4)
    I would also add 2 "blah" cars..
    Focus(early).. survived all the abuse my ex threw at it.... and never me grief... just... meh....
    And the SantaFe, we suffered that thing for a long time while getting back on my feet. I HATE that car. No real reason.. just rubbed the wrong way? Anyway, most significant thing I ever did was ABS tone ring, and sensors..
    Gave the car to my mother 4+ years ago... she is still running it... v6/AWD...

    First night of league racing. Definitely not the fastest guy but also definitely not the slowest. Three races per week. Cut 2 seconds from my first race and another .3 from the second.

    Oh, I got a buddy that kart races somewhere here in NH. It's a big deal! His are gas powered though. Or maybe alcohol, I don't know they are stupid fast and they all wear fire suits.

    Anybody have recommendations for gloves and helmets that are Snell and Dot approved in case I ever do some scca racing. Ankit to order some alpinestar gloves and possibly a bell helmet

    I used to use an HJC as well for SCCA SOLO-II racing. It was cheap and it fit well. That's the biggest thing to consider IMO - fit. It doesn't matter how it's rated or how much it cost if it doesn't fit your head right and is uncomfortable to wear.

    Edit: Go to a local motorcycle shop and try 'em on.
