I miss my German Shorthair... one of the best dogs I've ever had. A damn good snake dog too. I don't know how many times he got bitten by copperheads in his life... he got to the point where he barely even swelled up anymore. After getting bit and subsequently shaking them to pieces, he would just walk up to the house, drink some water, lie down on the front porch, I'd give him a benadryl in some lunch meat, he'd take a nap, wake up and eat some kibble, and be right back at it. I don't hunt (not opposed to it, I just never got into it personally), so he never got trained as a bird dog, but still you could tell he was packed full of instinct from his breeding. He'd always point and had a beautiful posture/stance when he did. He looked like a statue or a stuffed dog when he'd point too. Still as can be. We're surrounded by cow pastures with big ol' ponds on them, and he'd spend all day chasing things (mostly birds) across the lengths of them. You'd just see him on the horizon looking like a cheetah in full stride, and the next thing you know he'd jump off in a pond and swim the length of it, still chasing the bird or whatever it was at the time. He was in ridiculously good shape when he was young. Anyway, I have a soft spot in my heart for those pointers.

Is yours super sensitive? I never knew if it was his breed or if it was just him, but good golly that dog would get his feelings hurt easily. He'd break your heart if you ever had to scold him for anything! He'd drop his head, he'd drop his neck between his shoulders, hell, he'd droop his little nubby tail even. He wouldn't make eye contact or anything. It'd make you think twice before scolding him about something, you'd have to decide if it was really worth it or not, lol. He was probably just playing me all those years...

Edit: Forgot to say what the thing I made this post for to begin with... Beautiful dog, man! Very pretty coloring.

I think I may have asked you before, and if I did I apologize for asking again, but where did you get that Lab sticker?

This is my first GSP. My view is she's an amazing hunting dog. Prey drive is high. Energy is high. She's not a lovey dovey dog, but does require attention. We have a Chesapeake, as well, and if he's getting attention, she'll barge right in to get more than her fair share. She definitely wants to please, and does not like to be scolded. So, I rarely do. Which is why she's spoiled rotten. She's an eating machine and an overall goofball.

Impossible beauty standards are difficult to deal with when you're hairy.

My little girls like being clean, hate baths. They send Beau their sympathy.
