do you have the piece of weather stripping cover the entire front of your wind deflector?

I cut it and put a piece on the rear over the overhead brake light. Jut wondering if it makes a difference have the entire front covered.

First, let me apologize again for the burr issues on a batch of racks that went out. We've already "sorted out" the issue, but all of the photos posted in this thread are from racks that went through production and PC before that happened. If you look back I posted about our fixes maybe 9-10 days ago? The racks that slipped through were likely already in route. Rest assured anything that passes through now will look like what @Mrjones5 posted a page or so ago.

To reiterate, since we found this issue we have added a deburring process to every panel before powder coat. This was not a process that was needed when we were cutting them in house and it will not be a process that's needed once we start cutting the panels in house again; so that is how a batch got out with the issue. Our cutting/machining department didn't even realize it's a problem because it's impossible to see in the raw aluminum and no one was rubbing a gloved finger down every rail. Much of these burrs are tiny and hard to see before the powder is baked on them. There are a couple of photos of logos I've seen that should have gotten caught, they didn't, and that's embarrassing. But I think we've replaced every one where people have reached out.

Shipping missed it because it wasn't something they ever thought they had to look for, they just grabbed the sides and shipped them. It's no one in particulars fault, it's just what happens when you have 30 people in a building going at full speed because we added an outsource step (cutting) to a process.

All I can do is offer is to replace any part that people aren't happy with (or offer some other form of compensation) and apologize again for our problems making it out the door. I hope that my openness about the problem counts for something. We have been fabricating products for 4x4s for 17+ years now. This is not the first nor will it be the last hiccup we have, but we pride ourselves on handling it fairly.

These photos are indicative of a small batch of products that had an issue, not our products as a whole. I would hope that our willingness to fix the problem and me being here answering questions would be part of the reason people are willing to buy our products.

All of the rack sides are being hit with a DA sander before they get powdercoated at this time.

I can't tell people how to spend their money, or what to purchase from whom. Prinsu makes a fine rack and they make it in the USA and that counts for a whole hell of a lot. I personally dislike their mounting design, and that's part of the reason we started this whole endeavor. But choices are good. Competition is good. It means that we as manufacturers are forced to offer the best quality product at the best price we can and the consumer wins every time.

Tech support is e-mailing you now. I assume we will be replacing these. Not sure how that warp happened and it will likely go away when you clamp the bars down, but we want you to be 100% happy with your purchase.

I know man, not trying to rag on you. But, this kind of thing can leave a bad taste in people’s mouth and is totally avoidable. I, for one, would much rather get an email saying the following than a substandard product.

“hey customer, we are not happy with the latest batch of xx product. Rather than send you a product which does not meet our rigorous QC and our customer’s expectations, we have delayed shipment until the quality issues are resolved.”

Perhaps the issue with the cutter is sorted and I hope the QC is.

I’ll get off my soapbox. It just irritates me to see a company with a lot of potential making some really cool and well-priced gear shoot themself in the foot while relatively young in the market.

Good luck and once I see lots of happy rack customers I’ll consider yours again. I honestly do think it’s the best bang-for-the-buck.

Ordered a Victory rack last week. The fact that @monkeyevil has been proactive here on TW in addressing any QC concerns and willing to make things right was a deciding factor in me going with them instead of Prinsu.

Edit: Its a couple of burrs on a roof rack you carry stuff in, its not a deal breaker to me.

I totally understand where you are coming from, but we resolved the issue literally the day we figured it out. Any rack sides in the building or in boxes were checked and cleaned up if needed, and the new processing of the parts moving forward was put into place. Only the racks that already were delivered or were in route were the ones that we couldn't stop, and only a small percentage had the issue. I know that this thread makes it looks like every rack that shipped last month had problems, but that is not the case. We shipped a 100+ racks last month and the vast majority were without defect. That doesn't mean we can't do better, and we strive to get as close to a 0% issue rate as possible.

I totally agree and will likely be buying more Victory products. As the second person to chime in on the Burrs, I am actually a little guilty with how this thread has gone at points. They have 'manned up' quickly and have taken care of my issue. I LOVE my rack, it looks great.

Just snapped this photo of the backs of 3 random sides on the outgoing rack.

So spoke with Mitchel today from Victory 4x4, and from start to finish I have to say he is definitely doing everything right in terms of customer service.

First off, he promised to ship me out new Farings to replace the ones with the warping and burring issues. Secondly, he even offered to expedite the order so I didn’t have to wait weeks.

So, I have yet to get the new parts, but from start I finish he definitely made me feel a lot better about them being stand up guys in regard to their products.

Lastly he did finish by saying that there should no longer be any issues with burrs moving forward. So, can I recommend them....? YES

Despite, all that’s happened they are willing to stand behind their product so being a business owner myself, that’s all you can do and that’s good enough for me. Will let you guys know how thing’s turn out once I get my new shipment.

Have yet to receive my rack so I have no piece in anything really, but just wanted to say this is why I decided to go with Victory.
I’ve seen all the communication going on in THIS specific thread. I appreciate Victory’s and everyone’s feedback here.

Does any one have side by side comparison pics or videos of the 2 racks?

I know that the victory appears to have bigger side cuts outs for possible lights and what not.

I like the Prinsu fairing better.

Do the side pieces sit about the same height off the cab?

Also, for this purchase, is it better to wait for Black Friday? I am in no big hurry to get the rack.

    Thanks

Yeah the front wind deflector should go all the way down touching the roof. The square bars should be all the way back. And the rear plate above the brake light should be pushed up as high as it can go. I have almost zero wind noise and I have done 90 mph in the truck.

Wouldn't this cause rubbing of the paint creating issues down the line? Even with the rubber weatherstrip?
