I know there are about a thousand threads talking about this, but I’m not finding exactly what I need on any of them. I have a 2017 Tacoma OR. Everything is stock right now but I’m wanting to run 285/70/17 tires. Can you tell me what lift I will need? Does it come in a kit or will I need to buy the struts and leafs and everything separately? How much lift in the front and back will I get? How much can I expect to spend? I will be doing about 60/40 hwy driving and logging road driving. Basically on logging roads every weekend. Thanks for you’re time and again, sorry for beating the very, very dead horse.

    Welcome to TW!!!

If i were you I’d contact Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and tell her your parameters and budget. She’ll set you up right at a fair price. You’ll see this response a lot.

It’s worth the call or email.

I have been researching a lot. I’m just not finding what I need. I’ve seen that if you go over 2 inches you need uca’s, but I’m not sure if I need to go over two inches to fit those tires or if two inches will do it. Goals have been mentioned. Budget I would say is 1500-2000 but I would obviously like to be on the lower end of that.

Gotta do some leg work brother, instead of waiting for answers. The more you research, the more you learn about what will be on your truck.

Let me add to the confusion.

Why do you need that size tire?

What wheel specs do you plan on running? That matters more than lift actually.

Have you driven these logging roads? Do you need lift for that, or just actual axle line ground clearance?

Did you find, in your readings, that you can run a full 33 in a 255, stock wheels, no lift, no rubbing?

I’m going with a 17 inch wheel with -6 or -12 offset. I’m thinking -6. I don’t really need the lift for driving. My truck runs all the roads I will be running just fine with stock suspension, though I’m sure it would be more comfortable with aftermarket struts and shocks and everything. Mainly I want to get rid of the rake and run that size tire for looks really.

Not helpful to a guy who wants to spend $1500 bucks. No offense.

Also why run Kings on a Mall Crawler in the Northeast? Salt in winter on those things has to be hell. But hey it’s your truck! It’s nice BTW.

Contact a Vendor directly much easier that way. You're going to get pretty biased opinions on here.

Well if that’s your budget ome or toytec are a popular choice. Like mentioned above Marie knows her stuff and will steer you in the right direction.
Some ome 888 coils and dakars with nitrochargers front/rear is a great setup.
Be prepared to have a cmc done for 285s and expect to get some UCAs for a good alignment. I’m running spc and they’ve treated me well.

I only saw the first post and didn't see any talk on money, but am very anal with the whole truck. They are all coated etc ready for Winter, as is my 5 year old frame living in the Salt Belt. Still looks new.

You have an OR, which is tuned for, wait for it....... off road. More compliant than say a Sport.

You may, or may not get a more comfortable ride. Proceed with caution.

Tip. You don't have struts. You have non-adjustable coil-over-shock double wishbone front suspension. Regardless of what catalogs may call them.

Your stated budget was just for suspension I suppose? As big tires and funky wheels will eat most of that up.

    Good luck in your choices!

Vendors aren't biased towards products they sell, and maybe to the larger margin ones?:rofl:

Thanks for the info! And yes just for suspension. The wheels and tires I’m getting are going to run me about 2k by themselves.
