is it better to get the $300-$400 real trd pro grill or a knock off one for $150?

That’s okay there is room in this great country for both sides of the ProGrill debate. ‘Merica!

I bought the OEM and OEM sensor garnish for my 2018 before the prices on the sensor garnish went through the roof. Although I never heard anyone complain about it, I didn't want a knock-off that may or may not be made with inferior materials as I live in Northern NY and can see temperatures as low as -30 F with lots of snow and ice during the winter. I was concerned cheap plastic might crack or break in temperatures that low. It also takes the guesswork out of it, you don't have to worry about whether or not it's going to fit properly or whether or not the letters will look correct.

    It's complicated.
I'm the first to reject buying Chinese knockoffs--and I do my best to buy legitimate/OEM products. China is the Walmart of the world, and that country is a wholesale scourge on the rest of the world.

Yes, buying what I knew to be a Chinese knockoff was painful. Still is.

Ordinarily I would agree with you, except that TacoTwonz go to greater lengths and check each and every piece they receive--and they reject substandard ones. They have tried out numerous suppliers, and they won't continue doing business with those whose quality becomes suspect.

Knockoff, looks identical and much cheaper. Enjoy the saved money towards something else. In the end its just a piece of plastic that says toyota on it.

Get the knockoff and use the money elsewhere. I Have a knockoff on mine, but an OEM garnish, and it is great.

I would have been happy to buy OEM but Toyota won’t sell me one without a pro vin. Now they are getting ridiculous money for the garnish.

The Chinese guy that makes the knock off is probably a good dude. The American guy has a 50% chance of being an asshole.

My local Toyota dealer sold me an OEM 2019 Pro grille for $170 local pickup, also I believe the OEM grilles are made in USA

Love my Runnin4Tacos knock off grille. Looks exactly the same, it fit perfect, TSS works just fine.

Sorry for being late but I'd buy a knockoff. My brother has a TRD Pro and the grille on his seems a bit too flimsy to be OEM plastic. I've felt other knockoffs and they feel exactly the same

Plenty of vendors that work with TW sell replica pro grilles that are of very good quality. Just don't buy one from Walmart or wherever the cheapest ones are sold.

OEM if they were both available...it's a cheaply made plastic grille!

I know this topic has been discussed WAY too much, but I just had to throw my own two cents in. I bought an aftermarket Pro grill and actually had it waiting here at the house while my ordered 2019 TRD Sport was being ordered and delivered. I swapped it out in less than 20 minutes, and yeah, initially I had issues with TSS. But after 2000 miles of driving locally, those issues finally settled down. Then, when I drove across the country in October of 2019, I had PCS OFF light come on for the whole trip going east from CA to the east coast! BUT, then, while I was on the Outer Banks of NC, the light quit coming on, and the PCS system worked perfectly all the way back across the country. I talked to the dealer about it when I took my truck in for the 10,000 mile checkup, and he said that indeed, the PCS system WAS a learning system, which is sure seemed to be, in my own case. I DID install the aftermarket sensor cover too, although I had also ordered an OEM Toyota one which I still have but did not use. It is working perfectly now. I would indeed order an aftermarket as there is no need to waste money on an OEM one. Here is a pic of my 2019 TRD Sport taken at a beach access point on the Outer Banks of NC in October of 2019. Notice how insanely COOL the Pro grill looks! Ok, stop drooling now...
