Figured I’d share this cool lamination from the other day. This is an 8’4” for a friend as a gift to his wife on their wedding day. He’a been present for each step to learn and do the work that someone with no experience can do. Pretty cool project for him. He’s starting to realize how much work really goes into a board. Hahaha

haha yea I didn’t install it yet.

The type of single boxes I use go in after glassing. Because the single boxes on logs are longer, the tail rocker prevents you from getting a flush fit before glass. So you place the fin box after glassing and sand the lip of the box down to match the Board. Its an extra step to the process that shortboards don’t have.

I figured it had something to do with it being a different process for a long board. I had sent my buddy your guys way cuz he was wanting a fish but I think he’s bein a lil bitch and not wanting to buy a new board lol

Can't believe never saw this before.

    Current inventory

    JS BB2 HiFy RT 5'11
JS MONSTA BOX HyFi RT 6'1
    JS BB3 HyFi SQ 6'0
JS MONSTA BOX HyFi RT 6'6
JS MONSTA 8 HyFi RT 6'4

    Firewire Lost Mayhem RT 6'2
    Firewire Baked Potato DT 5'5
    Firewire FRK RT KS 6'4

DCLB with Extang 2.0 hard top so boards won't get swiped.

    All Futures.
And most are set up for thrusters, not a 5 fin setup, except the Baked Potato and the, Monsta BOX SQ. I'll order them with only the thruster setup, and don't have any FCSII fins I like, so Futures only, which can be hard to get sometimes. Working for a surf shop has it's perks, but money isn't one of them.

Used to go to UCSD, but lived in IB. People may not like IB, but I loved that wave. At least as good as Black's, 1/10th the crowd, 1/25th the walk, just never after a rain or big south. Love Pump House and Bird Rock, and the one break near the blowhole on Point Loma ... K-38 was a parking lot filled with broken glass and a Winnebago that sold amazing tacos - those were the day. Mainly surf OBX, and Florida now. Miss the west coast big time. Roberto's from after surf, and the fish tacos from that place on Garnett St, damn I miss those.

Haha yea I think he hit me up inquiring then never heard back. All good. We’re like fully maxed out in production right now anyway. We’ve got a lot of people on the waiting list and with full time jobs it’s tough to pump out boards as fast as I’d like.

my bachelor party is in hossegor next month so I’m trying to finish off boards for the trip, and boards for customers. Hopefully it’s pumping and all the boys get sufficiently toobed before the Wedding. I’ve been told not to show up with any injuries to my face haha.

Hope all the west coasters got a taste of the swell on Monday. It got fun!

Got to surf my new fish and it goes good! First time on these weird hatchet /paddle fins too, and they felt surprisingly good. The board is so fast and maneuverable. Definitely has the 6th gear I was looking for. But at the sacrifice of not being as slidey as I like so I’ll probably switch to a more conventional keel, and do a new big board to run these paddles on.

Dumb question, I live in socal and not near the beach (hence username) I surf about once a week for a few hours, should I consider fluid filming? My buddy is a lifeguard in oc and they use 3rd gen Tacomas and I noticed their trailer hitch balls are rusted to shit

    list is growing fast
    Nope.

The hitch balls are rusted because 1. The lifeguards are not properly maintaining the hitches by keeping the balls lubed and covered when not in use and 2. they are bare metal and live in a moist environment. Ie the fog and sea air.

Your truck is all coated and treated. It won’t rust. Not here in California. Unless you are high speed driving around in pismo sand blasting your undercarriage all the time.

Central coast here. Live about 20 minutes from the beach. Mines rusted to shit too basically for the reason @RangerComa mentioned. Not keeping them lubed, covered, etc.
