Custom LED Map and Dome lights

Good catch! Between IG, 2nd gen, 3rd gen TW I try and post a little bit everywhere to spread it out.
But yes, I am in the middle of redesigning the Dome and map lights to a DUAL COLOR. A red/white selectable has been heavily requested, so here it is. Note: this is not the SUPERDOME(bluetooth RGB) that idea was shelved so we can work on this one(it's much more complex)

This will NOT be as bright as an all white dome or map(duh) but It's a great solution to have both colors in one, and still be brighter than most drop in LED bulbs.
The design will have a "C" style white LED array (which I carried the same theme into the maps) with the reds in the middle. Then they both will have manual tactile switch to make selecting the other color super easy.

 

Argh I should have waited! There going to be a trade in program?

 

I just got a set too. I will have to put this at the bottom of my list.

So I ordered both map and domes but there was a mistake on shipping and I ended up with two domes and no maps. Meso being the men he is had a new set of maps out that day for me. Well in that process he sent me two sets of maps, lol. I have replied asking where to send back but sounds like he wants me to just keep them. Very stand up guy he is. So I figure since I had the good fortune of getting an extra set we should do some sort of giveaway here so someone who may not be able to afford a set could have some. What do you think Meso? My extra set of maps and dome is up for grabs to the right guy. What should we do?

Interesting: I actually purchased both white and red map lights making my driver's side Red and passenger's side white. With just the one white on the passenger side is more than enough light to find something in the dark and the red option allows me to turn on a light while driving. Being a small company its really refreshing to see MESO so responsive to customer 'wants' and finding demand on such a small platform such as TW. Keep up the good work.

 

I'll tell you what...I have said this previously, I had a BD5 get smacked with some ugly hail a week after I installed it. He DID not have to do anything but managed to ship out another for me while he was waiting on a plane for his trip to China. Literally, the man has the BEST customer service EVER!

You can never go wrong with his products...and if for some strange reason there is some sort of an issue, it is fixed lickety split!

 

Its simple the responsiveness to demand and his quick action to set things right even if they aren't his fault are two ingredients to a thriving business. I had a map light issue and he fixed it before I could bat an eye. No guessing to why people visit MESO website to see if he has new product available because the product and service are beyond equal.

Received my maps and was blinded within 5 minutes. So easy to install, one side didn’t work right off, flipped the plug and they lit right up. Such a huge improvement over the factory lighting

 

Installed Meso Dome Lights, and shorted a fuse in the process. I’ve since replaced the cgo lamp fuse, and the light turns on. However, my interior lights stay on if they are set to turn ‘on’ whenever the door opens or the doors are unlocked. They should turn off automatically when the doors are closed.

Is there another fuse that is responsible for ‘reading’ the status of the doors? Has anyone else experienced this?

 

Dome light or Map lights? If it's the map lights, try pressing on the light itself, the have their own independent switches.

 

Dome lights. It seems to rely on the map light switch though. If that part is in the middle (pic of open doors), both lights stay on regardless of doors open or closed.

 

That circuit (electrically) is quite weird. Try switching polarity on the map lights, then the dome light. You haven't broken anything I don't think, but the ground path could be wrong.

 

I didn’t do anything to the map lights - those are stock. If I reverse polarity on the dome lights, I fear it will short again and put me back to where I started.

 

You say it “on” but describe the “door” setting. I’m probably just misunderstanding do to the fog of the internet. Just to make sure the switch has 3 positions off, door, on. To have it operate that way you are wanting the switch must be in the center not clicked on either side.

 

Yes, it’s clicked to ‘door’ but behaves like ‘on’, meaning regardless of door open or closed, the light stays on.

Internet fog is real, harder to explain without a video. Maybe I’ll make one of those soon.

 

Sounds like both your maps are turned on at the map switch not the center switch.
Try pushing each map light on/off.

There are 5 switch positions for each map.
Center switch OFF
Center Switch DOOR
Center switch ON
Push switch ON (Overrides center switch setting. Light will be ON regardless of center switch position for THIS light only)
Push switch OFF (Gives control to center switch, Center switch now controls ON/OFF of this light)
