Does anyone know if the auto-down feature on the driverside window on the SR5 is part of the motor or part of the switch. I want to make both the driver and passanger windows work with this feature.

If your really cleaver, find out how to make them auto down, and auto up. My previous car was a vw and both driver and passenger where auto down and up. I'm interested in the auto down though, keep us posted.

Yeah, the auto up is also a good ideal, if you figure this mod out and it's not too hard i'll definately do it to my truck

I tried to look up the switch that was in my 4Runner and I think it was upwards of $300 or more. Ouch! If you find something please let us know.

I think I will try to find time to take apart my door this weekend. If I am going to buy an expensive switch, I really want to make sure it is the swith and not some relay or something.

I just called the local Toyota dealership. The driver and passanger window switches come together as a single unit. The price is $250.00 CAD.

Yeah, I was going to say what reid mentioned....most of the time, switches like that are sold only as a complete assembly. On a two door truck, you'd have to order the two-switch assembly, a double cab truck would have a 4 switch assembly, etc.....

OK I went outside yesterday and started taking the door apart. I removed the switch unit. I the windows and door locks are all controlled by the same unit. I took it apart and tried to figure it out. Unfortunately the auto down window is controlled by a circuit board. I tried to figure it out but it is too difficult. If anyone can get me a wiring diagram I could probably do it. Does anyone have the manual with diagrams? It would probably only require soldering a couple of extra wires.

There could be a definite saftey problem with automatic up windows. If you kid or your dog or your wife or anyone else happens to have his/her/its head out the window when it goes up it could cause strangulation. I think that this is why they don't come from the factory that way.

I imagine that there are safety devices installed in vehicles with the auto-up function. My wifes CRV has it on the driver's window.

Did they discontinue the auto-up feature? My mom's 04' highlander has it on the driver side but I haven't seen it on one since.

I was given an 08 Rav4 to drive while my '06 was being TSBd to hell and back. It had Auto Up/Down on the driver side only
