    I use Red Wing boots with the Gore tex( love them . I’ll send pics later.
    I love the 5.11 socks. Warm and durable and the heels don’t wear out and that’s always a problem I get with thermal socks

    Yes they are , but my old employer gave us a generous boot allowance. $200 and 20% major national discount to go along with it . So my out of pocket expense was minimal if I chose to go beyond that, which I usually did to get the Gore Tex and such
