lol, yeah I had to take a break from working on the truck. shit just kept getting set back further. I had to take the cylinder head off again because I went to replace injector seats and plastic fell into the cylinder. so i need to finish removing the other 3 seats and get the new ones installed. But I got a new headgasket, new injector O rings and seats, new fuel filter, and a new cam position sensor since the original broke...while pulling it out....yeah, and lastly got a new oil pan gasket to get this damn pan sealed lmao

finally got this bullshit out of the way lmao. new injector cups in, also got new seals for all injectors, new temp sensors too. next step is pulling the oil pan again and resealing that up and teflon taping my fuel fittings to stop the leaking. then just mess with the brakelines again

quick update, got the cylinder head and the new headgasket back on finally. Not sure how much work I'm actually gonna be able to do in the next few weeks, I fell off my long board running my dog and semi fractured my right wrist (my dominant hand of course), an Avulsion fracture is what the Doc called it. Not a true fracture, but when the muscles pulled it brought bone fragments with it, hurts like hell when I bend it after a certain degree. So it's kinda hard to get anything done lmao, had to have my roommate help me lift the cylinder head into position. But I need some help too, I need to find a 3rz MANUAL engine harness. The harness I have I think is an automatic harness and I need to find a manual harness to make things easier even though I only have a manual ECU

Great build, very nice work.

Out of all the things I've done to my vehicles over the years, I think working on brake lines might have been the most frustrating. I learned pretty quickly that if you cheap-out on the flaring tool, it makes the job 100 times more difficult. I had a quality flaring tool and still had leaking fittings... over and over again.
It was bad enough that I had to redo the flares multiple times on several spots, but the most frustrating part was the leaking brake fluid and having to bleed the entire system multiple times. I feel your pain! :frusty:

thanks! yeah i definitely didn't cheap out on my kit, i got a nice OTC double flare kit. i did get copper/nickle 3/16 lines, so those are more forgiving over steel. although i had a local offroad group guy come by to look at the lines and because they are copper nickle, all I really needed to do was tighten and loosen several times. he got my clutch master to stop leaking by doing that lol

I fell off my longboard running the dog and how I landed I semi fractured my right wrist lol

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Those bronze nickel lines are the shit. I redid all the lines on my 85 with it. Way better than steel and it doesn't corrode.

thanks man, yeah I cant wait to start working on the truck again. Yeah I had a buddy come by and show me that all I needed to do was loosen and tighten several times to get the line to seat properly, he got my clutch master to stop leaking. so I need to do that to all the other lines now lol

man sitting here not able to sleep...just depressing knowing I'm so close to getting this truck done. But even though I got my cast off Friday last weak...I still cant even touch the truck for another few weeks since my wrist is still weak. This truck is just seeming almost like a lost cause at this point :( I just want this truck done already...

Nixx on the injury!! At least the cast is off. It’s just a matter of time and you’ll be wrenching again. The cooler temps will make it a pleasure to finally finish up the Build

Positive is you don't have winter down there and can work on it all year ;) Unlike us in States that get cold weather lol

Very good, that’s a sweet Truck your Building, stick with it. I’m sweating pretty good this morning down south of you working on the 4Runner.
I added a Driver side Factory A pillar Grab Handle.

I like when I can Breakout the Hand-Riveter Kit and install Rive-Nuts to make for a solid install of the main bracket. Also got to use the Dremel

welp. so I had needed to pull the oil pan to reseal it up since a spot got messed up; well....I then find shavings galore in the pan. my balancer was also off almost 180* for the TDC mark. so I had a feeling SOMETHING was wrong. just to be safe i pulled the engine (at this point its stupid easy for me) and pull it all apart again. I thought it may have been something I did mechanically. NOPE, damn harmonic balancer snout blew up IN the timing cover, which in turn threw shavings all in the oil pan, also got all up into cylinders #1 and #2 ruining them and damaging the walls pretty good.

it doesn't look good right now, brought it to a performance shop to have it looked at and since their machinist wasn't in, they told me to bring it by monday again. But, since I already have an .040 bore over...it's an iffy save. Ill find out monday. Need to find me a junkyard 3rz so i can get this truck driving.

Good news though, the brake lines are like 95% a few fittings need better seating, but all 4 calipers have pressure and all pistons are working which is awesome

more like 12 steps lmao. this always happens to me haha. This most definitely happened on the very first startup. there was a pretty big spark that came from the engine that I have no idea where it originated. I thought it may have been electrical, but, all the wiring was good to go. so im thinking that was the balancer blowing up

Well you found the root cause now you just have to fix it. I think Lee had a 3rz block but not sure.
