If you are actually worried about hitting the fake sliders and damaging your truck, you already answered your question. Get real sliders.

Don't listen to trolls. Most people that have sliders never have and never will use them.

I agree with @Crosis that if you are already worried about damaging your rockers get sliders. You can get zero rise sliders with fill plates that you can still use as a step if that's a feature you want to retain. The next logical thing would be a front skid plate.

If you're still looking to spend money you should get basic recovery gear if you don't have it already. Shovel, jack (bottle and/or hi-lift), bubba rope or kinetic strap, tow strap, plug kit, compressor, gloves, first aid kit.

Start with things that will make your rig more capable and then armor and then cosmetics. FUNCTION OVER FASHION! Start with things like improving your ground clearance, approach angles, departure angles, and if you are serious locking the front and rear diff. Armor would be next but i would say start with sliders and an IFS skid, and then let the trails force you to buy new bumpers. Then you can work on your lights. If you just have to have lights now then i would say buy cheap chinese LEDs and save the money for the more expensive mods. Unless you plan to run baja at 60+ MPH then you really dont need crazy expensive LEDs that cast light 1/2 a mile down the road.

If you want more ground clearance buy bigger tires...

If you want bigger tires buy a lift kit.

Also i suggest buying what you want the first time around. This way you buy once, and you cry once.

Hey Bill, I'm in FL and have a Chrome bumper. I'd be willing to swap.

You can paint chrome, need to get some 220 grit sandpaper to it first.

3 inch lift with Toytec Boss and All Pro UCA's up front. AP expedition leafs with Bilstien 5100 shocks in the back. 255/85/16 Cooper S/T Max tires. All Pro skids, rear bumper and sliders, Hidden winch mount with XRC 8000 winch. Dual Optima batteries with IBS combiner/isolator and solar. CMC. Auto sliding rear window mod, hidden CB, CVJ axles and plenty of other little mods.
What He Said! Building for looks is a complete waste of time...unless you're going for the best mall crawler on the block award.

Lockers is for serious off-roading. Based on the pics, it appears you like to stay on the trails and go RTT'ing - outlanding is the new term I believe. If you don't have a dual battery setup, I'll suggest that as a useful benefit in case your primary battery dies on a solo run.
