I don’t ride with any protective gear other than a helmet (duh) and gloves (sometimes). No particular reason, just never felt the need for anything else. At least until last Sunday...:anonymous:

Anybody have any recommendations on low profile, pedal friendly knee/shin protection? Preferably lower priced options as I honestly don’t know how much use they’ll get aside from trips to places like Pisgah.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

Yessir! That was definitely the added bonus.

I prefer Oskar Blues when I'm out there, but the Hub is a good time, as well.

I dont spend much time hanging out there but it is the center of mountain biking out that way. Have you been to Sierra Nevada yet?

Not yet. Only been to Asheville/Pisgah twice so far, but I plan to head out there a few times every year.

Do those dump heat well? I like that they don't appear to take up a lot real estate on the leg like a lot of other 'light weight/low pro' leg protection offerings.
 I could be wrong but those look like they would get my legs hot fast.

I barely notice they are there, even in the heat. Obviously dont provide the protection that some others do, but plenty for the stuff I normally ride. If I was riding park a lot I would recommend something a little heavier duty but these are fine for everything short of that.

Well we should try to work that in, basically Disney Land for adults. Just had lunch there Monday on my way down the mountain!

Good to know. I generate copious amounts of body heat when exercising. Getting something that breathes well is a must.
And a light weight set is all I'm looking at. The majority of my local riding barely warrants additional protection, aside from peace of mind.

I'm fully game for a Sierra trip on Saturday if that works. Since I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current zip code I might as well plug them for jobs. Distribution/Logistics is my current industry and Sierra has bit of that going on at their facilities. I've actually seen a few job postings at that location over the last few years.

It's a little farther out of town, but would be a fun for dinner/beer/post ride shenanigans before we head back to camp for more beer. Figure we will grab beer/lunch at either Oscar Blues Brewery or REEB Ranch on Saturday as well. Working on schedule now but I'm hoping to get a ride in both Pisgah and DuPont on Saturday.

You're not wrong. I bought them after my accident in order to protect my knew titanium leg, but I absolutely hate wearing them in the summer due to the heat factor. I only wear them when I know there will be some gnar.

That said, they do still breath better than many other sets.

I’m game for most anything. Priority #1 for me is riding with and meeting new faces. Good brews and relaxing is #2. I certainly don’t want any of my personal agenda to influence the groups itinerary.

Very interesting option, for sure, and I just happen to be in the market for a hitch rack. Currently leaning toward the 1up tray system, but a vertical rack might be ok, too.

Found a little more info on his site.

I hear ya! However, being entrepreneur myself. I do enjoy supporting a new product of quality, from a youngster trying to break into the world of racks.
Upward and onward. Maybe a group buy is in order!

You should post this over in the main Bikes and Tacos thread to possibly generate interest.

I've just had so many steel racks rust, I won't buy anything but aluminum now. But if he starts making them out of alloy I would for sure check them out!
